We recently ate here for the first time and we won't be back. The service was excellent, so I kinda feel sorry for the servers. We both got shrimp that was utterly tasteless and kind of mushy. Frozen shrimp can be done better. Fries were OK, iced tea was godawful.

Ignore the old reviews here, this place has changed in the last 2 years since Kelly's sold in Nags Head. The owner owned both, as well as others, and much of the staff from kelly's is here now. They totally redid the inside and the food is more like what was at Kelly's.

For years we have been going to Mako Mikes. It has been one place that is a must go for all of us. I am not a seafood lover so I usually get the prime rib. It always melts in my mouth, yum. We brought out future son-in-law down two summers ago and he too loves it. I must admit that the decor seems outdated but who cares...the service has ALWAYS been great. Go early if you have a big group! Enjoy you dinner.

Food is solid, but there aren't any great deals. They do have some larger tables, so they'll be able to handle larger groups better than most restaurants.

We ate here one time, probably won't eat there again. We did pay alot of money for the meal that was average at best. Yeah it has neat decor, but who's eating the decor...

This is one of my husband's favorite places to eat when we visit the Outer Banks. It has been hit or miss with me. Everytime I order one of the specials the food has been fantastic. It is a bit expensive though, but we usually splurge to celebrate my husband's birthday. Don't think this would be a family outing for us.

The decor is fun and the service is usually good but the food is always so-so. Everytime we go there the gift shop is closed...so that saves us some $$. We used to go there every year but haven't been there the past couple of years. It's nothing great. There are much better places to eat.

We fell into the trap of going to this tourist stop to eat. The atmosphere is like stepping into a cheap 70's lounge, and hasn't been updated since. The food is extremely BLAND. If you do not heed this advice, at least do not get the Pizza. I can typically eat pizza from anywhere, but not from Mako's. I was sick all night. The chicken had absolutely "ZERO" taste. My daughter had the shrimp and thought it was fine, so maybe the fish is "OK". We will not return.

first off, the "shark tank" was a 100 gallon aquarium with a couple of tinysharks. The food was bland and over priced for the serving size. We had great service at least.

I had a very enjoyable dinner at Mako Mike's. The restaurant is sharked themed, and had a shark tank. Service was very good. I had the prime rib, which was very tasty and made with rosemary. Very nice flavor.
Good food, prompt courteous service, fun decor, and kid friendly. Very good dining experience.

We absolutely love Mako Mike's - the crap dip is fantastic! We go to OBX every summer on vacation and usually end up there at least 2 nights. The only down side is that they only serve dinner - they aren't open for lunch.

We loved the decor especially for our 4 yr old sibling. The service was the best we had, and it was the best food experience than anything else we had all stay. TRY THE BANANAS FOSTER!!! Fabulous!

I hit enter by mistake on the previous review....sorry. I swear to God that my daughter had a roach nestled between her garlic mashed potatoes and her vegetables. We told the waitress and she offered us the "locals discount".........we are locals and we should get the discount every time. I wrote the owner a nice, not combative letter, and he did not respond.

This restaurant has always consistently been one of my favorites. The seafood is fresh and prepared in many ways from traditional to gourmet. Some of the best shrimp I've ever had, time after time. The off-season specials make it one of the best deals on the beach!

Not a great place - blaa food and kids running around yelling. I went there twice with one visit-(the first time and the last time).

A casual dining room with an over-the-top ocean atmosphere that will appeal to kids and those who enjoy unique and colorful decor, the service is above average and the food is consistently good at moderate prices.

We went with our two boys (7 and 5) and had a great time. The food was good, and the inside was really neat. It can be hard to find kid friendly resaurants so we were happy. We will definately go back next year.

Tacky atmosphere might appeal to some. Food was mediocre at best. My crabcakes didn't have much crab.
