Rating: Cheap, great location, not pleased with the room 10/26/2017

We weren't too pleased with our stay here. We opened the door to the room (first floor, oceanfront), and literally almost fell in. There is no sign or warning (even from check in) saying that to get into the room you step up over the frame of the door, but it drops down a foot or two to get inside. Then we noticed the rusted out refrigerator next. As we made our way to the kitchen to put things in the fridge, we noticed a big hole in the sink. Opening the fridge it had something spilled in it and was sticky. Something was left in the freezer (which did disappear the next day). There was a stained dish towel sitting there for us to use (NO THANKS). The bathroom curtain rod hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. I put my white wash cloth on it before getting out of the shower, and when I pulled it down it had a black mark on it. I used it to wipe the rod and it was FILTHY. The one chair in the room had seen much better days, it was full of stains.

On the plus side, the price was awesome. It was quite affordable for the oceanfront room. Although, I'd recommend getting the second floor as since you had to step down in your room you couldn't see the ocean from inside unless you were standing.

Other than the issues mentioned with the room, it wasn't bad (funny cause there was a lot). I knew it'd be old and that didn't bother us. The wood paneling was old looking, but who cares. The bed/bedding was clean, but could've been updated to liven up the room a bit. The TV worked fine, WIFI was decent. Bathroom was old and could use updating, but other than the shower rod was clean. The staff wasn't as nice as we were used to at another place we used to stay. Not that they were rude, just not overly friendly.

All in all if the kitchen wouldn't have been there I could probably recommend the place. yeah, it needs a refresh, but the rest of the room wasn't run down (the kitchen was!!). Luckily we weren't planning on using the kitchen, there would be no way I'd eat anything from there. We even left our beer in the box.

I know there are quite a few older hotels on the beach. I'd look to them first.

This will be the third year we stayed at the Outer Banks Motorlodge. The rooms are large clean and the staff is friendly. They have a small pool which is kept very clean. They also have a fish cleaning station which comes in handy for fishermen. I get pool side but there is also ocean front rooms. There is free internet at the office and some free snak food. We have always enjoyed our stay there.

I wanted Oceanfront and to walk right out to the beach. I found it here. It's not fancey, but our room was clean, it faced the ocean, we had our morning and evening coffee sitting out side on the rocker, the staff was very pleasent, and what ever we need it was right there. We well be back in the fall.

This place should be condemned. Seriously, it couldn't be up to any building codes. For example, the plate of an electrical outlet was sticking out a half inch from the wall. Not good when you have a 2-year-old with you. Looks OK on their web site, but believe me, it isn't. Go down the street to the Beacon, it's much nicer for the same price.
