Corolla restaurants

We are staying in Corolla in a couple of weeks and are looking for good restaurant suggestions. We can drive within 30 minutes as well.

RE: Corolla restaurants

If you BBQ, you have to go to Corolla BBQ. In back of Twiddy Rental office by the lighthouse.

Bambino's Little Italy in Corolla Light Town Center, Fin and Claw, La Dolce Vita and Mike Dianna's Grill Room in TimBuck II, Paper Canoe just below Sanderling are all excellent and on the higher side price-wise (La Dolce Vita probably most reasonable of those). We haven't been for a while but we hear the Oceanfront Grill in Corolla Light is still good. Try Pasquale's Pizza and Pub in back of Food Lion for more casual fare including great pizza. If you venture to Duck, special night out choices include Blue Point, Aqua and Elizabeth's Cafe, and Red Sky Cafe is also very good.

Agave Roja in Corolla make reservations and not your typical Mexican. Coastal Cravings in Duck is very good.

I would endorse each of these places. Like them both a whole lot.

Corolla Village Bar-B-Que in (old) Corolla Village, just north of Currituck Light and behind Twiddy's office. Take out only, however do have a couple of picnic tables outside (fly alert).

Paper Canoe in Sanderling (north Duck), on the sound, just across 12 from the Sanderling Inn for casual dining with a great view.....sit in the bar room.

For the "fine dining adult meal" The Blue Point in downtown Duck.

First Light breakfast and burgers, and/or Lighthouse Bagels for breakfasts...yummmmm!!!

Haven't been there yet, but there's a new place I believe in the Harris Teeter lot called Urban Kitchen. I've seen nothing but 5 star reviews on it, looks like a great place.

RE: Corolla restaurants

We stopped by the Tomato Patch for a quick pizza lunch. Wasn't bad. The crust was unique and very tasty. In fact, my son claimed the last piece, removed the toppings... and just ate the crust!

I went there last month about a week after they opened. It's run by a former Blue Point chef. The food and service was very good. Highly recommend!

I've had worse pizza before, that's for sure. Can't say anything about the other menu items.

Just keep in mind whatever you decide that down here Thursday nights are like the weekend anywhere else. Dinner crowds are thinest on weekend nights here because everybody is either getting ready to leave or they just got here. Everybody always decides to go out to eat on Thursday with a group of 20+ and that night will be your longest wait. Plan ahead and do your big night out earlier in the week.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We plan on eating out some with just our family and then with our group of 13. We cannot wait for our first trip there in just about 2 weeks.

We tried corolla cantina. The pork nachos were very good.

We just took a party of 12 to Agave Roja on Friday night. Worked out really well. Quality food, tasted great. Service was good. Meal prices were fair, Drinks can get spendy if you're not careful. $9 Mojitos add up fast.

Be aware, the kids menu doesn't have any non-Mexican options. Limited to quesadillas, tacos, etc. If your munchkins require nuggets, hotdogs, pizza, etc you are out of luck.

We would certainly go back.
