Are the ramps open?

Are the ramps open?

With the government shutdown, are the ramps open? During one of the shutdowns that took place in the past; they closed all of the ORV beach access ramps. Just wondering if anybody has been out there today.

Not sure, Squid. I checked some news/articles and even drilled down to the govt site and no news. Last I read, IFP had a 9/29 article wherein they just conjectured about closures.

May hit 49 today, so I'll let ya know!

I'm not sure it will be safe to go to the Point! Might be some houses floating by...

I've been trying to find out about the ramps myself. We're coming down four weeks from today, and considering the way our toddlers in Washington are behaving right now, there's no telling when this thing ends.

FYI: Spoke to some local fishin' folks tonight at Pop's and no one has heard anything about roping off ramps due to the govt shutdown. Thought I would ask them since they are always in the know. I would also think, too, that surely the IFP or Outer Banks Voice would generate an article as they stay on top of breaking news.

Guess we'll all find out in the next few days. I didn't beach it today on 49, so haven't seen anything first hand.

A lot of folks chimed in on a Facebook page I follow saying everything was open today.

RE: Are the ramps open?

Thanks folks, let’s keep them open for another four weeks!

RE: Are the ramps open?

They are open. We went down to 55 today. It is VERY soft I would suggest airing way down

Beached it at 49 today and yes... quicksand! I was literally sunk to my knees a couple of times near the tidal pools. Most everyone was parked on the ramp or at the dune edges. No one swimming thankfully. The waves were still very impressive.

Campground in Frisco open as well. We'll see how long this lasts with the shutdown.

PM me, Alexy! Want to meet up! We're leaving Saturday for Lake Norman to visit son and then back to the mountain. I would be thrilled to meet you folks. We're neighbors! And you know the house....
