Offshore fishing trip

I have been surf fishing the outerbanks for several years and have always been wanting to do an offshore trip but never wanted to put up the dollars to do it. Turns out i have been invited on a trip to head offshore out of Delaware...booked for this friday 10/3. Kinda wondering about the weather? I figured folks here would have some thoughts/experience with that. Looking at the forecast this storm still going to be lingering around in the atlantic....forecast 4-6 foot waves winds 10-15 from the north east. How likley is it this trip will happen? Is that too rough?

RE: Offshore fishing trip

Winds out of the NE can make for a rough ride, especially on a smaller boat. 4 - 6' waves aren't to bad depending on the intervals between them. The closer together the waves are the more the boat rocks making it hard to move around. If the wind's blowing hard it'll make for a long day. You might won't to wait for a better day for your 1st offshore fishing experience. Going out of Ocean City/Delaware normally means a 3 hour+ trip to the canyons each way. I stopped going out of OC back in 1995 just because of the time wasted to get 60 - 90 miles out, 3 hours plus each way. I'd wait until spring and go out of Pirates Cove or Oregon Inlet. The Gulf Stream is a lot closer and the boats are A LOT cheaper. Check the NOAA website for sea conditions. Best of luck and let us know how you make out
