The Avalon Pier has nightlife now. Has for maybe a year, I guess. Bar and bands. Not a problem by itself, but if you think about some of the other places like Fishheads or the Nags Head Pier, the one thing that makes them different is Avalon has a huge parking lot in comparison. Plenty of places for people to park and come/go. And near the bridge back to the mainland. Teenager died in this event. Horrible.

Unconfirmed reports are one fatality and two wounded and suspect in custody

Their main business 10 years ago was pier fishing. Now the money maker is the bars (there are 2, one upstairs) and the bands. I read the shooter is a 16 yo male. So my first question is where did he get the gun? If the answer is it was his parents gun, then THEY are in trouble. Law enforcement around the country have started prosecuting parents who do not secure their guns from their minor kids. Lets see what happens.

KHbiker The first and perhaps only time I've had Covid was actually from watching my buddy's band play at Avalon in January or February 2022. The Outer Banks Pier is the same way and Fish Heads killed fishing there. We have two pier passes that go with the house for guests to use. We tried to do the same for Jennettes since it's still a fishing pier, but Jennettes issues named passes that are much more expensive and can't be used for guests.

The young man who was shot by a ricochet, is back on the pier this morning fishing! Avalon just posted this on their facebook page. Good for this young man getting back out there.
