Water Bomber in the area

Who else saw the water bomber pass by about 5:30pm yesterday. I see is is still in the area, looks like the track takes it to get water and back to a fire west of us.

It did a pass near the monument yesterday. I saw it from beside Run Hill/Camp Salt.

When I read the thread title, I expected to see a picture of a kid with a bucket full of water balloons. Big grin

Where I live I see planes coming to circle the monument and they fly off. I did it too when I got my pilots license. It must have circled and then went up to Eliz City.

Looks like a training flight. They probably have some new guys that they’re checking out in the airplane, and Elizabeth City is an ideal place to do it. They do a touch and go on the water to scoop their water up.

I could believe training. NC Forestry used to have one or two water bombers some 8-10 years ago. They sold them to a Canadian company that had a tv show that had cargo planes up there. Maybe this is a replacement for them being sold.

yesterday route

RE: Water Bomber in the area

As I am posting this, they are in the air and appear to be off of Kitty Hawk doing touch and goes in the ocean. I’d go watch them on the beach, but I am in Elizabeth City today.

This is the same link that I posted yesterday, but if you wanna watch their route in real time, you can do it here.

Now off of Southern Shores, and turning south again.

I like that one - thanks

They have been working the Pasquotank River, close in offshore, the Albemarle Sound, Lake Gaston and the mouth of the Roanoke River. Looks like they did all of those in their three sorties today.

Actually, it’s the mouth of the Chowan River, which is only a few miles from the mouth of the Roanoke River. The Roanoke River is the one highlighted on this map image.

Cool! Back Creek is on the bottom of our property and a tributary of the Roanoke River. I have held my breath and driven over it many a time when it was very high and over the banks. Eek!

Have you considered tubing from your mountain home to your beach home?

I wish, EZ! 425 miles to my front porch is so long. I think I screamed about three times riding through the Cheasapeake area today knowing we would die around Hampton Roads. Thank goodness I could put on the brakes via the dashboard. And the other way through Manteo and Raleigh is even worse. I hate 40. Wish wish.....both ways are terrible.

My husband actually told me today that he made it to the OBX one time in four days without my help....
