Here's the GFS model for Sunday. We're Fredneckians and we follow Justin Berk for our forecasts. The Canadian models and Europe models are showing less. Justin has been on top of the snowfall totals.

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

Weather Underground uses the ECMWF model too and it just updated at 1200. It updates every six hours.

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

Please don't forget the birds! We just put out some of our birdseed bell sprinkled around the backyard on top of snow that still hasn't melted from last weekend.

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

Good reminder, Bent. We feed black oil sunflower seeds and suet. Keeps 99% of them well fed.

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

Hahaha! My bro is at the grocery store now and he said it is crazy! Double whammy this weekend between the impending weather and the playoffs. I went early this morning when it opened and breezed thru.

It's been a while since I've seen a nutcracker/pick set like that. Who ate all the nuts?

I also put out black oil SF seeds. Cup or two a day in the flat feeder just outside the office window. No sense in putting out more than that because the raccoons and/or deer finish off whatever is left after dark every night.

Yep, those sets are vintage and my mom had one set out every year at Christmas. I picked up this one at an estate sale Friday and plan to put it in my Etsy shop. I was happy it had all of the extras. (Just had not washed it yet or put it away so it was in the picture). I've sold a few of these in my shop and people seem to love them.

We're scraping a little away on the bird bell so night piggies don't take it all.

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

Steady flow of customers today.

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

Bent, I still have my mom’s set.
She always kept it in a little velvet bag.
I still have that too.
Can’t remember the lat time we used it.

We need to call our sweet neighbor to turn on our water to a slow drip! We call him the mayor of Brigand's Bay! Absolutely love him and his wife! We'll give him the door code to go in tomorrow. We won't be able to get to the beach for another week or so.

When I left our beach house for more than a few days I would turn off the water coming into the house. Not drain it, just turned it off so a leak would not make a mess. You don't want this to happen.

Oh gosh! What a mess that is. Keeping my fingers crossed all is well in this cold spell.

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

The forecast looks less promising for any accumulation this week. Bummer. There is some uncertainty with possible accumulations based on latest NWS posts. Here's hoping for the uncertainty and a good shellacking!

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

No snow yesterday 10 miles south of the Richmond airport. We had a little drizzle, but it was too warm.

Some of the weather apps are predicting 3" to 5" of snow for Ocracoke tomorrow night. Some are still predicting less than an inch.

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

NWS Morehead is just making schit up at this point. Laughing smiley

6 hours ago. Less than 1". Click to follow link...

Just now. 3-6" depending on which part of the banks you relate to. Click to follow link...

Hopefully the actual amount is in the 12-16" range. Banana Banana Banana

I wish we were there for the beautiful pics!!! I've only been there twice with very light snow.

Plus, I cannot imagine how many cars will be all over the place sliding off of roads. Luckily, it's flat, so shouldn't be any problems. But, I'm sure road plows are a bit scarce in those parts. It's really harder driving in deep sand.

You guys have to post pics!!!!!

RE: Anyone Receive Snow?

I'd like to see some snow. It's been so cold on the beach for two weeks I wish it would just snow and make this cold worthwhile. If it had been a few degrees colder last weekend we would have had a foot of snow I bet. The rain overnight was intense.

Mstaszew

If they still do horseback riding on the beach in the winter down there, you'd be alright. A warm saddle is where carmakers got their idea for putting heated seats in cars. Big grin

Greg MD

Sounds divine, but I have a respect for horses that means I don't get near one lol. I've been on a horse once or twice as a kid and that's it. Our neighbor across the road was a Richmond mounted officer and kept his horse at his home and put me on it. That was enough.

I just toss on a few extra layers and get out there. If you keep moving it's not too bad.

Mstaszew

Aww! They're sweet!!! This is Gizmo in Charlotte area about ten days ago after my son covered him with his blanket against the snow. Some stable in Huntersville where his GF keeps him! He has CA blood and was shipped to Huntersville recently. He's not used to cold temps! Sweetheart horse! Hilarious watching my son ride him. He's more like a pony. He used to ride my daughter's horse while growing up so he's not scared. And of course he had to show off for his GF.

Edit: most horses are very sweet actually. My husband rode our Arab bareback the first day we had him. No saddle and did well. He had some experience though. Like a dog, horses can feel if you are nervous, and go accordingly. Our Arab always rubbed up against him...almost knocking him over, because he loved him so much. He hated
it when he was alone and not with us, and would run up to us just to have someone kiss his nose. When we boarded more horses at our farm, he was better about having to have us pay attention to him always, but still looked for us. I got up at 5 am every morning and fed them them separate bails of hay. When I say separate, the girls were mean, and I had to separate their hay many yards apart so the girls wouldn't kick the males to get their breakfast. If too close, the females would kick the gelding to get to to the food. The girl horses were the absolute worst and and geldings were fantastic! Always buy a gelding if your looking!
