That was where Dare Co was going to build a fire house. But they bought the hospital in Kitty and they are building it there.

Tim, I think you mean the KH police station. KH has their fire station on KH road, I don't think that's being replaced.

To expand on what I posted earlier. A new Kitty Hawk Fire department building was built in 2006. It is on KH road half way back on the South side of the road. I don't believe they are moving the KH fire department. I think the Police department will move to MP 1 on the bypass. The police dept is presently in the old post office building on KH road just past the Catholic church on the North side of the street.

I know they plan to move the police station, I remember kidding the previous chief about him missing out on the new building since he was retiring last year. I thought the police station was going into the new building where regional medical was.

Thanks to all who responded. To me it would make sense to consolidate police, fire, EMS at one location. Like the old regional medical site. I would think there has to be some economical savings to be had grouping services together at the one location.

Who knows could the old regional site be our future workers housing site? Or whatever the pols are calling it today.

The lot-clearing in your original post is for the new Dare County EMS Station 9 per a recent email newsletter from Dare Co. If the "old regional medical site" you mentioned is the one next to Bear Drugs (first building south of Visitor Center on 158, across from Sugar Planet), part of that building is Beach Medical. The owner of Beach Medical told me the construction there on the north side of the building is for the new Kitty Hawk police station.
