FYI, a 13-year-old boy died this past weekend in the ocean off Corolla. This hasn't gotten much attention, but it is tragic and sad regardless. From the Outer Banks Voice:

It was all over Facebook, but not as much as other cases.
That's probably because the body was recovered so quickly so most hadn't even found out about the search unless they listen to radio calls, and the unfortunate timing of some commentary in response to the rip current warning map posted that morning, which regrettably generated a lot of commentary about how Corolla was the place to swim because south of there was the red zone.
Very sad indeed.

Sad indeed. Seems the area has a way of quelling negative news.

I don't know, it was reported by multiple Va Beach media outlets and updated, and the Augusta Free Press (Augusta County VA, Waynesboro, Staunton, etc.). I have family over that way.
Now that I look for it, a station in South Carolina, and Ch. 8 in Richmond also reported the missing person and then updated it.

They usually have multiple outlets with multiple updated stories same day and go regional or national faster than other stories. This was just a super tight timeline as the tide brought the body in faster than usual.

What I read in another article was there were three including Amir swimming together. Two were able to swim in.
So unbelievably tragic.
