Local offshore weather?

Hello everyone, I have two trips planned (recreational) to Nags Head over the summer and I'd like to know what or who is the best resource for getting offshore weather and wave conditions. Is there a locally recommended source? Thank you in advance!

Definitely the National Data Buoy Site. Most locals will use the 20 mile Forecast from Currituck Light to Oregon Inlet or the Oregon Inlet to Hatteras reports. There is also a 100 Mile forecast, but that has a tendency to be deceiving since you are concerned getting Offshore. If you can't get there or get beat up on the way why? Next you have the actual Buoy reports. You have the Oregon Inlet Buoy whish is 7 or 8 Miles out. The Virginia Beach Weather Buoy is also pretty good and the Diamond Shoals location. There are some sites which will forecast Winds by time of day and by distance from shore. I have never used them. Please be advised these reports along with Satellite Water Temps are no good for Beach Zone use.

Diamond Shoals Buoy link is: Click to follow link... This normally has wave height and dominant period information, but for whatever reason does not show it right now.
Oregon Inlet Buoy link is: Click to follow link...
Windfinder App is also pretty good for showing wind and wave forecasts.

Thanks for the links and the information guys. We stayed within about 20 miles of the inlet last summer (mostly 10-20). Had no trouble navigating everything (minus a couple sand-bars in the sound but nothing serious) and the fishing was great when the weather was, but I left knowing I needed some better offshore information.
