RE: Watching My OBX Community Drown

Are we discussing sea level rise or climate change or both here?

Robert

Either or both....it's a wide open topic and all opinions are appreciated by this group of generally respectful but thick-skinned contrarians..... but if you prefer you could weigh in on the Chic-Filet marketing discussion thread or you could start a new thread on the best NY style pizza on the Outer Banks..........btw, starting to rain here in Hatteras.

Was just curious as the thread seems to have become blurred. Not interested in Chick-fil-A marketing, but I do enjoy their chicken sandwich. BTW....been raining in NJ for the past 20 hours and looks as if for the next 10 hours more.

As it often happens.....blurring that is.....now we are morphing into a discussion on rainfall...but I guess that follows the thread topic more so than trying to distinguish a difference between climate change and sea level change......I'm just thankful it's not getting colder.

It seems to me that we are combining different things into one here. Shoreline movement and erosion is, and always has been, a reality on the Outer Banks. Look at inlets that come and go, the continual movement of Cape Point, Rodanthe is experiencing severe erosion, but other places are not. This is not necessarily the same thing as, or evidence for sea-level rise. The egg heads say that there is sea level rise, and I'm not a scientist enough to argue that one way or another. The islands do move, and in some cases the ground sinks rather than the water rising.

Not enough people who know what either of those are to discuss them.

It's all weather...

At this point we just assume everything is flooded here until the sun comes out again.

The only constant in this world is Waves Market french fries, and if I can swim to get to them, that is all that matters.

I finally made it to Waves Deli today after seeing it mentioned here a bunch. Usually I'm just passing through for fishing to the south.

The white sauce was excellent. The fries were decent thanks to that sauce. I'd say they were good if I had never had the fries from Tortugas Lie or Lucky 12. Those are truly awesome with a bit of a crunch. Waves Deli needs to sell that sauce to those places up north.

The sandwich was excellent. I ordered the Spicoli. I don't know how they cram 2 lbs of food in between those roll halves, but somehow they did it.

For $14.50 the amount of food was insane. I think they could halve the amount of sandwich filling and fries and I'd still find it to be a large portion for an acceptable price and I'm a big dude. I'll be back and next time I go there I will get a sandwich and skip the fries unless I have some extra people around to share. Today my stepdad and I each got a sandwich and fries and neither of us could polish off all of it, but we put in an admirable effort.
