Electric Boats

RE: Electric Boats

Laszlo,

Thanks for the links! I have been looking at some other YouTube videos and wasn't sold but now with some real world info I am sold and going to order one

Good luck with it. One word of advice.... make sure you charge the battery as soon as you get it and then charge it every 2 months or so even if your not using it. Their was a problem with a batch that arrived dead to some people. They were held up in shipping containers for months and the batteries took a dump

Laszlo

Thanks for the info. I ordered mine yesterday and they are saying May delivery. Can't wait to try it out.

MoonStuck is my dream boat. Saw it last year at the Winter Custom's dock.

RE: Electric Boats

I'm not sold on fully electric anything yet but I like the concept, especially for boating here at home on Long Island Sound as you're typically 20 miles or less from shore when travelling north or south. Just like anything else "new" the biggest hurdles for me would be cost and longevity.

RE: Electric Boats

You want an electric boat, get one.... is but the nonsense about how they might be better for the environment needs the full story... starting with the basics... energy spent, tax dollars spent, extra logistics, waste disposal afterlife are never thrown in the mix... and puuuuhlease don't increase my taxes so you can act like your saving our future. nuff said.....

Not sure any of these posts in this thread read as “saving the planet through EV use” ;)

Toyota’s CEO called it - we just gotta figure it out.

The convenience of, say, living sound side and just “plugging in” after a sunset cocktail cruise sounds pretty cool. Running out to the stream? Not so much.

I was actually expecting more posts like that, but have been pleasantly surprised. EV is a bad word for some. Heaven help us if it was rainbow colored... Big grin

The EV boats are still out of my cost/benefit range, but I could easily see a nice shallow draft center console EV boat sitting at my private dock some day. Charged up and ready every morning. Gotta get the private dock first though. Laughing smiley

It should be required that you have your own windmill and solar panels to generate the electricity to charge your EV boat!

You are a trouble maker SPQ...

If you can afford one right now, you probably do have that though. Wink smiley

Would also love to have my own oil rig and processing plant, but I think solar might be closer to reality for me. Still though, I'm not giving up my ICE powered vehicles, especially the fun ones. And I'll never give up my '87 Honda 250R Fourtrax. 250CC 2 stroke (premix) goodness. I'm pretty sure they banned it because you shouldn't be able to have that much fun with your clothes on. I have to plant a new tree every time I start it to offset the environmental harm. Laughing smiley

Ever since I went 4-stroke on my boat motors I always complain about the "Smokers". The 2017 Yammies are darned efficient and use about half the fuel of my old Evinrude RAM Ficht 225 HP 2-stroke smokers. (However, I still own an old smoker for my river boat!)

Your logic is sound. I see an EV in your future... Laughing smiley

Upgrading to 4stroke….I can vividly remember starting and running my first (a Honda) and hearing water running under the hull for the first time.

Then later thinking no way this fuel gauge is working…gotta be stuck.

Interesting developments going on, but, when I hear Electric Boat I always think submarines!

Lots of cool videos of lithium dropped into water. Hot enough to melt glass. Clapping smiley

New London! Always cool to see that rare event when you're heading over the Gold Star and catch a boomer heading out.
