Look for construction to begin soon.
The bridge doesn't affect me, since we don't go up to that part of the coast anyway. But am I correct in understanding that the stated purpose of the bridge is to enable quicker evacuation in the event of a hurricane, but that in reality it will just make it easier for more people to come to an area that is already overcrowded?
Look for construction to begin soon. I've got no dog in the hunt but I'm curious if you think it'll continue to be delayed or if will go ahead? I can't imagine the extra flow of people who would be coming in if that bridge is built. Corolla would be even closer to becoming the next Myrtle Beach! I understand the need for a better evac route but still, if they build it THEY WILL COME.

It ever being built is predicated on a large increase in traffic as its funding scheme requires the bridge generating significant toll revenue for the majority of the cost of the bridge construction.
I just can't understand how to bridges leading to the same road heading north will speed up evacuations. And also can't see how people heading to their vacation heading south and hopping on the mid county bridge will work while still needing to drive through Duck. My motto is be careful what you wish for because it might come true and not be what you imagined.
The number of cars that use the bridge is going to be highly dependent on the toll. The volume of cars that go around the toll on the 168 expressway is tremendous so they can have an extra drink with an umbrella in it. The bridge could be a lonely place if the toll is to high and could have zero cars in the off season.

I always exit at the last exit before the toll. You only lose about 10 minutes to save that three bucks. Furthermore, the Wawa at Hillcrest usually has the cheapest gas in the whole area, so there you can save another several dollars. However, to not take take the Currituck toll bridge to Corolla on a changeover day, you could lose three hours time and pay a lot more money to burn up a lot more gas. I personally would pay a pretty high toll price to escape that.

Think a little.
Anyone have an idea of how much the total price will be?

Why would they charge a toll for the Mid Currituck bridge and not the Wright bridge? Be careful what you ask for.
