Walkway question

RE: Walkway question

Let's move on from this. Lowtide gets a wakeup call and he and/or his contractors can't just do whatever the hell they wish and ignore NPS requirements.

The walkway gets repaired preserving the prior walkway width parameters.

How does anyone lose in that scenario?

So that's a BIG no. You FAILED to get a federal permit to alter a walkway on federal land.

SandyPaws4

Maybe the same judge will hear the case that adjudicated the Hovey Vs Ignoramus private walkway trial.
Have you called Casey Varnell yet? Wiggins is chomping at the bit to get another beach case on his docket.

But I figured you already called 911 to report another flagrant walkway violation.

OMG. Imagine being one of Sandyballs' neighbors. My sympathies to those neighbors who are normal and stuck with that attitude.

Sandy, are you sure there aren't surfers trampling over your property when you can't see them....I mean surfs up, ya know? You can never be sure when they want to exercise that right when you aren't looking.....Think about it, every time you leave the house they might be out in the back yard waxing their boards, calling all their friends to let em know you're not there, blasting beach boys songs on boom boxes, etc....

You're late to the game. The NC Supreme Court already slapped Hovey down.

None of that has anything to do with me other than the fact that I respect private property rights.

Then just respect the easement now known as "surfer's way" and get used to it.

And hey, BF... aren't you the same whiny bItch who complained about your renters treating your rental AS IF IT WERE THEIR OWN HOME?

You called me a **** in that thread because I said your complaint was lame.

RE: Walkway question

I didn't think it was possible here, but Izzy might be the one thing we can all agree on. Laughing smiley

J4yDubs

Ok, maybe we can add SandyPaws to the list as well! Laughing smiley

See how stupid and simple you are? LOL Youre actually responding like a baited rat to comments just meant to make you respond. I don't care about the Hovey Case...noone does. Youre a full blown mental case. Go buy a mannequin and dress it up like a surfer and argue with it! It will be exactly the same as talking about it here.

RE: Walkway question

Too much crap posted by the ignorant masses on this thread. I want to see where the NPS granted a permit to narrow the walkway in question by 1 ft.

RE: Walkway question

So.... ? Where's the NPS permit that allows a beach access on NPS land to be 1 ft more narrow?

Upon review of the OP - it sounds like a washout removed the access (it happens)...someone took it upon them selves to fix that best they could (anyone know the scale of the current NPS backlog? hint: it's significant); possibly with their own personal labor/$ outlay.

So, as I see it, it's a glass half full/half empty conundrum - visitors/guests now have a new walkway that is wider (maybe not ADA compliant) than the previously non existent access. Will it fit a fishing cart, maybe not, but it's a far cry from no access.

OceanBlue
That would work except for the following requirement for any new or altered construction of beach access routes on federal land as of 2014:

"1018.4 Clear Width. The clear width of beach access routes shall be 60 inches (1525 mm) minimum."

RE: Walkway question

I'll also say that the very obvious disdain for those with disabilities and the legal accommodations to which they're legally entitled on federal lands that many have shown on this thread is a very poor look. What in the hell is wrong with you people?

RE: Walkway question

Dude/Dudette you are waaay overthinking this...

The access washed out, folks (or folk) pitched in to remedy it...they didn't re build to the exact spec...but better than nothing (which was the case post wash out). Now...if a guest cannot access the beach (which might be because the dune path - not a cross over - is too steep), down on Hatteras you can just call the FD...they'll get you a chair or even drive you out to the beach.

Edit: and, I'd submit, the "Dr Rick" profiling ain't a good look either
