I rented one today to haul people to the beach access. It is street legal and I have yet to get it up to 20mph. It has a speedometer.
It looks like it is causing the bridge to backup up, something not that common unless there is a wreck - or barricades.
at this point I am fully committed to setting up for travel to and from Knotts Island .Soon enough this will be me.Click to follow link...
Would an air boat work for you?A couple of days ago we were putt-putting around Ocracoke with the dog and ended up on the sound side at the end of Esham Lane. There's a private ramp there with a chain across it, but a nice view. That day there was a man backing in a very, very nice black air boat. You know, the kind you see in the Everglades with the engine and huge prop on the back.

Air boats are great to skim over shallows and marshes. But they are very loud and gas hogs unless you are going flat out barely touching the water. They are great over calm water but will beat you to death over waves.

Give me our catamaran where the waves are cut thru and no beating! Our boat is so smooth in rough waters! Yay to the Kattitude! Our little 20 foot ProKat! Wouldn't have anything else after years of so many boats that we have owned and tried. Hubby drove to Fort Myers FL to pick up the Kattitude and we have been so happy with her.
