Is all that dredging equipment headed to Buxton? Are they finished in KDH already?

Still going strong in KDH. Every map I have seen shows this not happening near us these weeks, but I am afraid they will on our beach in the next two days. Anyone know the direction they are heading? Or the boundaries? Great beach day today! Mike

Rigs with their pipe headed south past Jennette's Pier 2-3 hours ago. Out of site here. Maybe they were headed to Oregon Inlet for service or a break.

Is all that dredging equipment headed to Buxton? Are they finished in KDH already? scole Hatteras and Kdh and north are two totally different companies doing pretty much the same thing. I saw a drop line heading south from Kitty Hawk at 5pm tonight heading for Hatteras.

In front of us now...moving tonight. 5th Street beach access KDH. Flattening area for movement of equipment now 749pm. Beach much bigger to the right of us facing ocean. Headed our way. Guys were nice, waved to my granddaughter. I think we will be next.

How quickly are the finishing each section? We will be down on for the week of the 4th and are staying a few houses down from the 5th access.

Pipe is gone in front of Sea Ranch hotel. Still some in front of us running for about .20 miles. Maybe they pick that up tonight or tomorrow am? Look to be working at Avalon pier and northward. Mike

Can't help to wonder about equipment maintenance with the dozers...do they have some kind of under carriage protection for the saltwater? Just never knew about that.

Tim-OBX It’s more the wear and tear of the roller guides from sand that gets them. With them running through sandy salt water, the sand gets furthers into the bearings. The underbody also takes some abuse from running in sand.

Equipment moved including pipe past 2 days to new location above Avalon peer. Plan per report is to work north now then come back down to 5th street access where they will finish. Mostly done south to near 5th street access. I can see it from our house beside 5th street access. They started June 13 replenishing and completed about 50%. So about 1.5 miles to go. Should finish July 9. But I am just guessing. Survey boat completed yesterday from where they finished to peer that I could see. Estimating I guess? Was a sight for me how the boat rushed to shore in and out. Measuring I guess. Will send a picture of new beach vs uncompleted later. Really been interesting to watch.
