had to wait to catch a shot after they came up from behind the swell....

I have been fishing the Delaware beach for over 20 yrs and never saw a boat dragging this close to the beach .This was taken last week at high tide , not sure what they were after but I didn't catch anything ! Maybe Bill can add to this since I know he fishes Delaware .

Looks like buoy tender or survey vessel.

Makes sense , never saw any boat that close to shore . The surf was flat for a few days so I guess that is why they were there. I could hit the boat with a 4 oz pyramid sinker !

That boat was spotted off of 3R's. Lots of debate on what it was doing, but nobody seemed to know. Many said surveying, but nobody knew for what.

Few joked it was for the cables for the offshore windmills. That got people going.

I had my binoculars on the boat only saw one guy on the boat , what Squid said makes sense . He would go down the beach and then head out about two miles and run back parallel to the beach in a square pattern and repeat it several times . He never would have been able to do that if the surf was normal .

So I did some digging, I thought the windfarm thing was a joke. It was not. Read this:

If he had nets out, it was for sea mullet. There was a huge run from DE to SC, huge amount, guys who normally catch 1-2 boxes catching 20+ boxes (thats 1-200lbs to 20k lbs). We had a guy bring in over 10k lbs in 4 days, and he wasn't even fishing that small of mesh nets.
