RE: Outer Banks Seafood Festival

I have attended the Seafood Festival from its inception, but as an Entertainer or Volunteer never as a "Paying" Customer. The Original Festivals were a "Homey" Family Affair with numerous Educational Exhibits, Children's Games , Seafood Cooking Exhibits and multiple Entertainment areas, similar to a County Fair. After a few years it evolved to an event to Eat, Drink and listen to some very good Bands. Yes there still are some charitable and service organizations and craft/artisans peddling their wares. If you want to buy small portions of food served by local restaurants, drink a lot of beer, shake your booty in front of the main stage then its for you. I personally liked the old fashioned venue which didn't last long. I would not recommend bringing children, they will be bored. Go for Lunch (there is an admission charge) besides buying your food and drink. I would liken it to going to a Bar, ordering drinks having some appy's and enjoying some entertainment. Festival, well I guess you can use that name. It is really a way for Restaurants to make some extra cash in a shoulder season. There is no lack of attendees. It might be your thing.

Thanks, but no thanks.
The early version was much better.

If you like lines, crowds and poor parking it is for you.

I 2nd,3rd the above recommendations. My wife and her sisters went to the early versions and enjoyed the food and walking among the vendors. They drug the husbands out the 4th time and they changed the set up dramatically and the food was not well presented nor were there as many different varieties. It has had a break for a year so maybe it will bounce back.

What the heck, give it a try! My wife and I went in 2018 and had a great time. Couldn't make the 2019 date, it was cancelled last year, so now here's the 2021 version: Click to follow link...

I noticed there's no on-site parking, you have to catch a shuttle at various locations. Nearby businesses might offer pay parking, and the nearby beach accesses are an option but they'll be crowded.
