Duck recommendations

We are staying in duck for a week next year in June. We normally stay down in nags head and don't go up to duck. What restaurants should we check out and what other things are there to do up there? We will have several kids going along ages 4 to 13.

RE: Duck recommendations

Do you know for sure where you will be? Some places are near town and can be an easy walk and other places in Duck require you take a car to places like you did in Nags Head.

RE: Duck recommendations

So many good places, Cravings, Roadside, Aqua, Blue Point, Paper Canoe, also shops on the water, enjoy!
Oops just read that Cravings is no longer what it used to be bummer!

Village Table and Tavern is really good and also kid friendly. It’s right on the sound. The town has a lot of free activities for all ages. Sometimes you have to secure a spot ahead of time. It’s all on the Town website.

RE: Duck recommendations

The town of Duck runs a lot of free events on the village green all summer, the set the schedule late winter on the town's website. It's different things for adults and kids.

Wow Bb just read the Cravings reviews. Glad we didn’t go this year.
Also heads up, our usual go to for carry out or lunch was Duck Deli. Must have finally sold it. Totally new concept, order at counter, no indoor seating, and the food is pretty bad.
The outdoor seating is ridiculous, hot and fighting flies the whole time. 5 people for lunch, over $100.
IDK how new owners can take a winning concept and run it into the ground.

NC Coast Grill & Bar is my favorite restaurant in Duck! I highly recommend going

The Duck Deli wasn't sold.

RE: Duck recommendations

I eat Cravings at least twice a week if not more. LOL. Bad habit! But it is NOT bad food, it is great! Especially this time of year and summer when you can't get into any restaurant b/c there are so many tourists!

We are in Duck! my kids are around those ages (and older) and here is what they like to do. . They LOVE to ride their bikes to the waterfront shops and get ice cream or go to the candy store. we walk to dog on the boardwalk. They have done parasailing, jet skiing, we kayak on the sound (If you have access). My son loves to fish.

As for restaurants the kids like Duck Donuts of course, we like Table and Tavern, we personally LOVE Cravings! Pizzaz pizza delivers - lots of vegetarian options. Aqua and Table and Tavern have vegan/vegetarian options. Go to Tommy's market for pie. Particularly their peach pie is SO good!

Our favorite part about being in Duck is the bike trail along 12. It's the reason we bought in Duck - easy access to everything by bike. Go bike around all the neighborhoods, etc.

Either I'm missing something (i hope not, but let me know if i am), or it just hasn't been listed yet, but how about the good old Roadside!!!

The back bar (behind the main building/dinning area) is very kid friendly (with lawn games etc.). It is also parent friendly if you need a cold one while the kids run around.

RE: Duck recommendations

OMG yes how did we forget Roadside! Go on Monday and play crazy bingo! Personally we like to leave the kids at home for Roadside and bike down with just adults so we don't have to worry about kids or driving and hang out in the back bar.

RE: Duck recommendations

I posted Roadside in my post. Love that place.
