RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Not sure lack of TP should be noted since most agencies don't provide a starter roll. In 3 decades of renting, only 1 agency we've used provides it.

marylander

Our office - Joe Lamb - provides a free check-in bag and it contains a roll of TP (which was hard to find last year). We have given that out in the check-in bag for years. Once a renter opened the bag and handed the roll of TP back to me saying they won't need that. I asked them , "What do you use"? She said they brought all they needed.

I miss check in bags!! I don't think any of the Hatteras companies are doing them now. I loved getting a reusable bag and a couple goodies when checking in. I guess the keyless entry ended that extra.

Orange Crush

Keyless did not end it and I see them all the time in homes I show that are for sale. I don't go to Hatteras so I am talking about rentals north of the Oregon Inlet Bridge. With keyless you get the inspectors or cleaners to drop off the bags in the house prior to the guests arriving. If a company drops them it is because of a financial reason.

Joe Lamb is our rental agency. We had a great check in experience on May 9 (Sunday). House was ready at 2:30, clean and ready to enjoy but no TP. Luckily we brought our own. We didn't go by the rental office since we had key code entry so we didn't get a check in bag. Would still love to have one - JL always great stuff in their bags.

ETA I drove from SNH to JL in KH to get a bag, needless to say I was disappointed Thumbs down Sorry, but cheaping out on something that used to be a nice perk leaves a bad taste.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

*bump for all of you lucky ones arriving this weekend*

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

We do Saturday but prefer Sunday. We use local agency mostly Brindley or SOS. We do early check in and keyless. 7 on cleanliness. We have sit in traffic 4 plus hours while staying in Corolla trafific back up beginning at Grave diggers.

3. 1pm
4. No.
5. 10
6. I popped into the rental office around 10am just to let them know I was in town. They were terrific and I enjoyed the conversation. We did a loop around the island and had some lunch, and before we knew it, the house was ready early.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Saturday check in. First Flight Condo Rental. Check in 4 pm. Was texted instructions and door code. Cleanliness 9 out of 10. No problems and would definitely use them again.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Bump: big weekend. This would normally be the weekend that starts the season with many schools now out for the summer. Let us know your experience if you're checking in this weekend.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

House was ready on time (4pm). Not quite as clean as we normally find them, but not terrible. Hatteras Realty. We had been told there wouldn’t be comforters on the beds because of ‘Rona, but they were made with bedspreads which was a pleasant surprise.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

-House was ready at 4pm
-Hatteras/VCASA
-House was very clean
-Dirty sheets/towels were/are on front porch in a tote and clean ones are in a tote inside. Very odd but house was clean and we brought our own sheets and towels anyway.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Village Realty
Paid for early check in, and it was ready.
Cleanliness 9/10
Supplies: sheets, towels, a couple garbage bags, tp in each BR, scrubber, 1 dw pack, VR tote
Very pleased with entire process. Everyone I've spoken to was very nice and professional.
We absolutely LOVE this house!
Our first time renting with VR. We would not hesitate to use them again.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Saturday check in May 22nd
Midgett Realty-first time using them, will rent from them again!
House ready about 2 hrs early before check in 6pm, arrived around 5pm
Drive was faster than usual. Even stopped and ate lunch outside a Sheetz. Also took our traditional leg stretch break at Camp Creek State Park in WVa. Kids are older and so less stops.
Cleanliness was about a 9. Overall good, found some missed spots behind doors, under beds, etc. but better than many other rental companies. Important stuff, toilets, sinks, showers, stove, hot tub, fridge, etc. were clean and sanitized.
Keyless entry that was programmed to last 4 digits of one of our cell phone numbers was brilliant!

2) Outer Beaches
3) 5:15pm
4) Supposedly the cleaners were still at the house (they weren't). No inspectors came either.
5) Cleanliness was a 7
6) I'm starting to think OB doesn't release houses even if they're ready early.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

1) Sat
2) Ocracoke Island Realty
3) 5. We got to the cottage at 5:15 and used the key code they'd emailed us a couple of days earlier.
4) We didn't ask for anything earlier. We took a leisurely drive from Richmond down 95 and across NC64 to Roanoke Island, etc. There was no delay at all going through the tri-villages. We had more trouble taking a left out of Red Drum to get to the ferry. Got to the ferry at 3:40 and easily made the 4 o'clock departure.
5)10
6) What check-in experience? LOVE the digital lock on the door. No key to lose.

7) Also ordered a 10# bag of local vegetables from the Vacationer Supported Produce program and picked them up this morning at Native Seafood along with a dozen fresh eggs. The realty company had emailed us about the program and included a link to order ahead of time.

Did get a check-in package

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Sun Realty in KDH
Condo was ready about 75 minutes early. Got a text alerting us.
Condo is great!
Gift bag was nice.
Floors were dirty and sticky in the kitchen.
Towels never made it inside the condo. Out on porch under rental umbrellas and chairs from previous tenants. Oops.
Hard to get someone on the phone regarding towels - even on move in day.

Looking forward to a great two weeks.
Mike

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Cola Vaughan, checked in yesterday. House was ready around 2:30, check in is normally 4 so that was wonderful! The house is clean, but some dishes were definitely put away dirty. We ran the dishwasher with everything we could fit in it. No welcome package with this company. Definitely sacrificing on the little amenities like that (linens, starter paper products, etc) but pet friendly and the price can't be beat. I'd rent from them again.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

1) What was your check-in day (Sat/Sun/etc)? Saturday June 12, 2021
2) Who did you rent from (agency name/vrbo/etc)? Midgett
3) What time was your house ready and/or what time did you check in? 5:30pm - half hour earlier than promised; latest check-in for our 20 year history of renting with Midgett on Hatteras Island, just a sign of the times
4) Anything specific contributing to your check-in time (accident on the way in/paid for early check in/etc)? nothing on our end, early check-in not offered by Midgett
5) On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the cleanliness of your rental (1 being gross/10 being amazingly clean)? 9 - nothing stood out as unclean; kitchen and baths were clean and beds were made per rental agreement
6) Anything else of interest regarding your check-in experience? keyless entry is a great feature, we are happy this is getting so common place (no more keys to have to share and/or lose)

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Saturday 6/19
Surf or Sound
House was ready at 2:00, we didn’t get in until 6:30 - traffic was more than usual, but we had planned to not be here until 5 because last year our house wasn’t ready until 6,
Cleanliness is a 9 - this house is pretty immaculate.

1. Check in on Saturday
2. Outer Banks Blue/VRBO
3. They ONLY offer 4:00 check-in, but got in at 1::30 thanks to a very nice person.
4. The nice person that let us in made it earlier than the 4:00 check-in.
5. Cleanliness was about an 8. It appeared sanitary but lots of dust.
6. It's the first time that a rental company texted me the day after check-in to ask if everything was okay or needed repaired. The repairman. They sent a pool man to check the pool temp. The maintenance man fixed a sink faucet. While there, we told him we couldn't find a blender in the house and that the ice machine was broken. He went to Ace Hardware and bought us a blender. He came back the next morning with 40 lbs. of ice. He referred the ice maker repair to an appliance repairman EXCELLENT SERVICE!
