RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

We do Saturday but prefer Sunday. We use local agency mostly Brindley or SOS. We do early check in and keyless. 7 on cleanliness. We have sit in traffic 4 plus hours while staying in Corolla trafific back up beginning at Grave diggers.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

We had a Sunday house - rented from Twiddy for the first time. It was fine, not outstanding. The house was clean, I'd say a 9. Our check in time was 4. They never let us know the house was ready, so we just went there when we got to Corolla after 4 pm since we had the code for the keyless entry anyway.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

We were down last week. Stayed at Pirates Cove. Our house was ready when we got there around 3pm. Very clean so I would give them a 10. We had no issues driving down traffic wasn't that bad we took 522 to 460 58 32 then 64 into Manteo. Restaurants weren't overly busy but we do go a little earlier around 4pm. We had brought some food with us to get us started so we didn't have to Food Lion until Monday. Everywhere we went people were very friendly, seemed thankful for the business. The only problem we had was the gas shortage. I had seen the report on the news earlier in the week so we topped our tank off. We did limit our trips to save gas. Thankfully our Nissan Altima gets great gas mileage. By Saturday things seemed to be getting back to normal. It was scary how something we depend on was so hard to find. Hope everyone has a great OBX vacation. It was sure nice being able to come down this year!

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Sunday, May 9
KDH
Seaside Vacations
2 PM early check-in (right on time)
10 for cleanliness

We stay for 3 weeks and have been with Seaside for years. Check-in and Check-out are totally automated and they respond to any issues ASAP. We have been with other companies prior to finding Seaside, but they have been by far the best. The gift bag contains 2 rolls of TP and a roll of paper towels, a pack of dishwasher det, and dish sponge. Some years it has also contained seasonings and a frisbee.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Saturday, Twiddy, 4pm got in right on time. No travel issues. Very light going up 12 but too busy in NH-KH. House was pretty clean, it’s never home clean but I’d give it an 8. We dusted and vac, used some leather wipes on furniture and some Clorox wipes. But nothing gross or even yucky. I was happy the decks and chairs very clean.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Checked in Sunday, May 16th. No travel issues but we came from south of here.
Pulled in driveway at 2:30 PM while simultaneously receiving text from Midgetts that the house was ready.
Cleanliness "9".

We've rented through many PM's over the past 35 years and this has been one of the best experiences so far. From the reservation, adding trip insurance months later and check-in process all seamless. And this is our first stay in May and another pleasant experience. The weather has been delightful.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Not sure lack of TP should be noted since most agencies don't provide a starter roll. In 3 decades of renting, only 1 agency we've used provides it.

Our office - Joe Lamb - provides a free check-in bag and it contains a roll of TP (which was hard to find last year). We have given that out in the check-in bag for years. Once a renter opened the bag and handed the roll of TP back to me saying they won't need that. I asked them , "What do you use"? She said they brought all they needed.

Surprised about Southern Shores. The cottage we have rented for years is through them and the place is always very clean.

I miss check in bags!! I don't think any of the Hatteras companies are doing them now. I loved getting a reusable bag and a couple goodies when checking in. I guess the keyless entry ended that extra.

Resort Realty is our PM and they provide one roll per bathroom that is already at the home when renters arrive.

A bunch of years ago there was a push to remove all toilet paper for cleanliness reasons and that is when they started including the TP at check-in. I never understood the need to remove it because motels don't, but it was a thing around 2006 or so.

We've also rented through SS for many years and generally have no complaints about cleanliness. And typically experience very responsive turnaround from the PM for any maintenance issues.

The only thing that really grossed us out was the wet pile of dishtowels left on the kitchen counter. Even that we didn't care that much about. But definitely did mention it and the other minor issues when prompted by the customer experience survey.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

That's been our experience as well, JoyInVirginia. Along with a welcome bag and a fresh roll of TP in addition to whatever was left on the roll.

We bring our own stuff from home, weirdly enough including dishtowels, so not a big deal not having any those items missing.

RE: Survey: Your check-in experience for 2021 trips

Funny!

We have rented from Joe Lamb for years. I love their swag. My favorite was the anniversary T-shirts followed by the insulated reusable grocery bags. Can’t wait to see what it is this year.

We rented from Lamb last year and much appreciated the TP and other goodies provided. There is usually (but not always) some TP left from previous renter, but you never know and it's the thought that counts
