Lawn maintenance

Lawn maintenance

Hi everyone

I’m having a really hard time trying to find a company that can come cut my grass once a month (plus also do some additional trees). Any ideas? I’ve tried Julie’s, 4 Seasons, Tyrell, Outer Banks Landscaping with no luck. Right now I’m thinking I may have to buy a lawn mower and come down once a month to take care of things. They all say they are booked up, overwhelmed, or not taking any new customers

Any suggestions? Thanks

Wish I had any advice. It’s hard to find anyone with time during the season.

Might be worth trying to find out what other homes on your street/neighborhood are using. If they are there anyways probably more likely to add you. We use Alpha Advantage.

Its the same issue in PA. I have two friends who have landscaping companies. Each is 3-6 people short, they just can't find help. My one friend is paying $20 for weekend help and $18.00 an hour for weekday help. They just can't find people to work. One went as far as giving out flyers at two local HS's

You are calling the big players. Try smaller friendlier companies.

I have another name but the card is at home so I'll add it later.

RE: Lawn maintenance

it's IMPOSSIBLE!!! They also charge a ridiculous amount for the most simple jobs!!!

Alpha Advantage called back so hopefully I’ll be set. We’ll see where things go

Landscaper I use told me he is dropping his bi-weekly clients and only looking for weekly clients. He said by the time he cuts grass every two weeks, it is too long and he ends up having to run over it again to make it look good, therefore taking up more of his time. I would imagine you may be running into this if you are only doing it monthly.

This is common here, you have found someone who is "Fat & Happy" and has too much work. You need to find the smaller guy willing to go the extra bit to earn your business. It can take a while to find the right fit. Good luck.

^ This.

It might be easy for them to put you on for at least cutting/trimming. Tree maintenance might be a bit of an issue. There are two companies that come through and cut near where we stay in SNH and they seem to line up blocks of homes. They park the trailer and one guy is on the mower and just bounces yard to yard and cuts each in less than 10 mins. A second guy follows with the trimmer and then they blow off the clippings and spray weeds. They park the truck once, hit quite a few homes, then load up and move down the street a bit and repeat.

During the summer, what is the general schedule for grass cutting? Got quoted for every week but I was thinking every other week. They did say they would go for every other if I wanted, just want to be sure the grass wouldn't be unkempt (I haven't had a yard in years)

It will depend on what type of grass you have, how much it's been fertilized, whether you irrigate, how healthy the grass is, etc., etc. Also, the stronger your mower is and how well it bags may make a difference to you.

FWIW, I cut mine about every 7-10 days. It's zoysia and I irrigate daily. But I'm using a battery mower which is not a good bagger.

RE: Lawn maintenance

Try a search for weekly. We rent north of the OB, in Sandbridge. EAch week crews park and do several lawns at the same time, then move down the street etc. I'm thinking once a month may be a stretch, and hard to find.
