I just saw the Swan Quarter and Cedar Island ferries have been suspended until at least Monday. Is it fair to assume the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferries will be even busier than normal?

This morning they were 4 lanes deep by 9, all 8 lanes by 10. I would expect the same tomorrow. If going I would try to be down there by 8.

They're having a time trying to dredge things out. Of course Hatteras Inlet has been a mess for ten year or more, but apparently, there's shoaling in the channel going into Silver Lake at "Corncake Island" (that's for you Weather Channel!

I wonder if it's also because they have a storage of staff? Our local news had a link where you could apply to work with the ferry.They need help at all positions on the crew from Captains to traffic control.I always thought that working for the ferry system would be a killer job!

The staffing issue is on the Hatteras-Ocracoke route. The mainland ferry route issue is shoaling in Big Foot Slough.

No issues with ferry lines. Got on the 9am ferry with only a few cars on it.

This week does seem slower than the last couple.
