I bought a RAD a few years ago and road it around the area. I hated being on the beach road! They are HEAVY and hard to haul around so keep that in mind.
Thanks for the info, Tim. My plan would be to have them delivered and picked up at the rental house....then just ride them from the house. I have a mountain bike and enjoy riding it. Do you like riding the electric bike (other than beach road)? I think I am definitely going to rent some type of bikes while we are there...just trying to decide if it is worth the additional expense to go electric. As always, thanks for the input.
I sold my electric last year because how many times do you want to ride to the monument or around your house? For you visiting it would be great. The electrics are really no effort at all to peddle depending on how much electric assist you ask for. I see people wiz past my house on them and they don't even peddle. You can go 20-40 miles depending how much you peddle and they do small hills with ease and that is all we have here.
If they ever get the improvements started & finish along Colington Road I'm thinking about buying an electric bike to travel to the beach. It's 6 miles from my driveway to the bypass. I saw a 20 something guy riding a regular bike with a small 2 stroke gas engine pushing it along this week. Being an old timer that is even more appealing. Takes me back to my mini bike days where you built it rather than buy it..
I did not like the beach road, I doubt Colington road would be any better. The battery alone costs $500 so leaving these around can be expensive. The battery is removed with a key so the bike is less appealing to steal since it is a bear to peddle with no battery assist.
