Also in that shopping center is Vilai Thai. They're more a takeout place than a dine-in place, but if you like Thai, you'll like their food.
The Caribbean place he's referring to is the Rundown Cafe just a few doors south of the shopping center.
High Cotton has gotten lots better this year, and we regularly get take-out from there. If you add their vinegar sauce to the BBQ, it's a good approximation of real Carolina BBQ.
Further south on the beach road are Ocean Boulevard (upscale dining), Art's Place (great burger joint), Hurricane Mo's (one of our regular places in normal years), and Black Pelican (a great local favorite, but we'd give it mixed reviews).
In the Southern Crossing shopping center a stone's throw to the north, there's Steamers (again, mixed reviews). One pizza place there, Southern Shores Pizza (good) and just beyond the police station and town govt center, another, Pizza Stop (better, but more expensive).
Finally, just beyond that in the Marketplace (Food Lion) Shopping Center, Barrier Island Bagels has great breakfast bagels.
