RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

I saw one person on the walk to the beach that I wanted to give a hug to.

I don’t know their gender, race, or anything about them. But this person had a huge hat on, a full face mask, and latex gloves as the walked down the beach.

It was the only person I have ever seen wearing extensive PPE on the beach here.

Even we don’t wear masks when walking the beach.

I’m a scientist and I don’t believe in ghosts, I’m not religious, or anything like that. I won’t go into details but what happened this afternoon was...unexplainable.

As a scientist, you understand that not everything is explained. How you treat that new information is part of the fun. The universe would be pretty boring if we understood everything. I'm not religious either, but I'll never discount or ridicule a religious belief. There's so much unknown that you'd have to be completely closed minded to not take in all information.

That's my scientist feelings. My human feelings are just to ask, did it make you feel better? More at peace? If so, that's a pretty good thing. Explaining it won't change or even help anymore.

I'm happy you're having a good time! That's what this is all about. It's what it should always be about.

An ice cream truck came by tonight playing these crazy jingles I remember from elementary school. Yankee Doodle, London bridges, three blind mice. Was so crazy!! An ice cream truck in the middle of a pandemic!!

Anyway I flagged the driver down who was a young woman who was, near as I can tell, high as a kite. I was excited as I had never seen an ice cream truck before. I asked her to stay put while I grabbed my
Phone and some cash.

I’m now the proud owner of 20$ Worth of old school ice cream. Some of which I had forgotten about since I was a young child, and lit up forgotten synapses in my brain like a Christmas tree.

Seriously tho, she was stoned AF.

Sorry for the crappy picture. It was night and I didn’t turn my flash on.

Shoot me a PM and we can talk about this at length. I’m happy to share, but this is broaching intimate emotional territory that isn’t appropriate for a public forum.

Quick after dinner post to say we went to sunrise seafood today and got some scallops and tuna steaks.

The scallops were phenomenal. An extraordinarily high quality product and our dinner was fantastic tonight.

I will be going back there tomorrow to see what else they might have.

If the tuna is as fresh and good as those scallops, I’m in for a real treat tomorrow.

Thanks for the awesome recommendation. Those folks know what they’re doing.

Glad you found Mark's place. He is good guy and works his tail off. I had those same scallops Sat night and concur on the quality. Understanding choice of seafood is highly subjective, might I suggest the Salmon or the Mahi .

Don't forget the tiny Key Lime pies in the freezer, and some good side dishes to the right.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

The mahi likely came from Jeffrey’s Seafood in Hatteras Village. (Jeffrey’s is a wholesaler who also sells some retail) Their mahi in the past has been wonderful, get it if you can.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

This dude is making me uncomfortable.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Today was some beach time and I tried the Mahi Mahi tacos from Oceana’s for lunch. They were pretty good.

Not much to report today. The beach is super busy here, reminds me of 4th of July in Ocean Sands in Corolla. Lots of very little kids (under age 5, I’d say) around.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Did some people watching. I think the beach PPE person is a lady. She was back at the beach again today. She wears a big hat, jacket, long pants, boots, face mask, and latex gloves. All you can see are her eyes.

She’s gotta be sweltering hot in all that....

Another group had these two little kids maybe 3-5 years old with life jackets and many many floaties. I think it was their first time seeing the ocean. They would run up to the water and as the surf came in would run away. They reminded me of sand pipers. It was funny, they kinda looked the kid from a Christmas story except beach floatie version.

Mace likes this place! He has chosen a bathroom attached to an unused bedroom on the Mid level as his den.

I think he likes to lay on the tile as it’s cool.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

First time I broke a toe was in college at Ohio State. I limped halfway across campus to Student Health. They looked at it and said “Yeah, you broke your toe. Wear shoes.”

The lack of paw prints is unsettling, but there’s a healing property to this. I can taste the salt on my lips and smell it in my clothes. I didn’t bring a bp cuff but I feel my heart rate slowing and my bp dropping, in a healthy good way.

I'm so very sorry to read that you lost Medic. My favorite memory from our September 2016 trip was walking my souldog,George, just after sunrise at the old lighthouse beach one morning after grabbing breakfast at the Orange Blossom. We lost him unexpectedly that December... The following year, I made myself go back with Luke. I was nervous, thinking that my emotions would get the beat of me (as they often do) but it was a very calming experience.
I believe that Medic is with you and if he made himself known, then you are a very lucky man. Red heart Enjoy the week!

My wife took the kids to flag down an ice cream truck in Avon last week. She said the same thing about the driver’s state. The driver, jokingly threw the ice cream at the kids.

Tonight is gonna be fun.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Shout out to Connor’s and the folks that were there today. Much fewer people than Food Lion and people are 100% masked and respecting social distance. Folks are more patient, let you go by, and everyone is staying six feet apart.

This will be my grocery store for the remainder of my trip.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

If you are going to Conner’s you should get lunch at Buxton Munch.

If you have eaten there before, go again.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Glad to read your family is enjoying Avon. The holiday weekend weather was perfect for beach fun. Hope your Mom is doing well and happy to be there. Spoil your wife and Mom a little, they need it this year. Yummy seafood, beautiful views, salt air and starry nights with a cool drink in hand. Oh so good! I drove home thru Chesapeake early yesterday and traffic was moving smoothly. Have fun with Mace on the beach. Thanks for posting your report and great pictures.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

So it’s raining today and my crew is sleeping the day away. My neighbors have like 9 cars in the driveway and have their music blasting and they’re all hanging out under their car port singing along, hooting and hollering.

I’m well stocked with beer and I think they’re around my age group. I really want to pack up some beer, wander over there, introduce myself and party with them.

Stupid covid :(

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Glad you are enjoying your trip. Try Buxton Munch. Its on the other side of 12 across from Connors. They only do lunch, but YUM!!!

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Now my OTHER neighbors are blasting music and partying outside! I love it! Avon is rowdy, lol. I’ll bet ya Pine Island is quiet as a peep and everyone there is reading quietly or doing a jig saw puzzle.

Hatteras Island parties in the rain apparently smiley

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Party house is still going at it hard. Seems to be getting mixed reviews from the neighborhood. Some people are out on their decks drinking and enjoying the music. Houses with multiple small children have people poke their heads out and glare.

I can hear their music inside my great room! Hats off to whatever stereo system they’ve got going.

We got a short break in the rain and I got a beach walk in. Saw Hatteras rescue come by in a pickem up truck with a jet ski on a trailer flying a huge red flag. I didn’t go in the surf above my knees.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Sea oats.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

Hate to say it for your sake, but the weather does not look to improve the next few days. Something floating offshore and moving your way.

RE: Aliphatic is in Avon

As party house gets more drunk, their music is getting more explicit. I just listened to Eminem use some very inappropriate language.

Doesn’t bother me at all, but if I had a 5 year old trying to nap....

We’ll roll with the punches. Worst case scenario we day drink and cook awesome snacks and meals all day?

I haven’t seen my mom since Christmas so it’s nice to be with her smiley

She helps me run this place.

We’ve got a 70 inch TV and our own surround sound system. I think we’ll be ok even if the weather tanks. Plus we can always hot tub even in the rain.
