Beach access: Runboat Circle, Frisco

Our family is getting ready to make our annual trip to HI in August. We’re staying in a new home to us and I’m wondering if anyone local might be able to give us a heads up of what the beach access is looking like over the dune at Runboat Circle. We’re staying at Casa Del Mare, oceanfront, off Runboat Circle in Frisco. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide!

Judging from the sat photo, you should have your own path to the beach. I haven't walked the path at that house but there is a fairly high dune line along that stretch of beach. I have stayed on Runboat several times but used the neighborhood crossing at the end of the western leg of Runboat, and that's a pretty tall dune.

We stayed on Runboat Circle in April. You'll be hiking over a pretty steep dune to get to the beach. It was a little more steep than we were expecting, to be honest.

The official answer is the Hatterasman Community beach access path, between 53247 Runboat and 53249 Runboat Circle. The path from Ships Timbers Road is private access (Ships Timbers Road is a private road, not a county road like most in Frisco) for folks in houses on that street.

I can't speak to the path leading directly from 53245 over the dunes visible in the satellite images. It may or may not still be there. I don't recall seeing it from the beach, but I always use the path I mentioned above to access the beach from our place on Runboat.

We stayed on Hatterask Road- two streets down from Runboat Circle last summer. Yes, the dune is quite steep. Don't know if there are any steps that help with your ascent there, but there weren't any for us. I wore flip flops to the beach each day and developed a bad case of plantar fasciitis when I got home. That climb is a bit challenging for us older folks, but it's not preventing me from going back in two weeks! This time, though, I will wear good shoes with support and shuck them off when I get to my beach umbrella!

Can't tell you what it's like this year, but in the past we have chosen that house over and over again. Call up the realty service you've rented from. I don't ever recall having any issues from that area - Robin Land and Runboat were always our first picks.

You will love the beach at Frisco, it’s amazing! I remember the first time we walked up the path and got to the top- the view north and south- so wide, so unspoiled. I’m sure you’re counting the days like we are!!

We were in the house right next door in April of this year. We were surprised at how steep the dune was from the previous year. Not horrible and once you are over, the beach is right there. I would equate it to the stairs at my house .75 stories. If that makes sense.

Wonderful location!

Oh!! You're staying in the house (Casa Del Mare) that we have stayed in the past 4 years. You will love it. ! It is well equipped (kitchen) and has beautiful views - big deck (new) . It is oceanfront as you know and to get to the beach you have a small sand hill to climb over. We are "old" and still climb over it without having heart attacks. The beach in Frisco is wonderful too. I'm so jealous now …. we were just there the first 2 weeks of May. Enjoy!!

We stay one street over from there - lots of paths over the dunes, however as others have said it's a fairly steep climb. If you have physical challenges you can drive just a bit down the road to the beach access that has stairs.
