With the opening of the new bridge over the inlet, I wondered if there was still fishing access on the south end of the old bridge? I read that there was hope they would leave some of the bridge and pilings available for that popular fishing spot.
Thanks all and tight lines this season!

1,000' of the old Bonner Bridge will be left on the south side of the inlet for use as a pier. I don't know about fishing access right now though.

There is no access for fishing from the old bridge right now. It is still a construction zone for the demolition of the majority of the old span.

In the last week the parking access is open but the walk out itself doesn't say it is not open just that "ROAD CLOSED" signs sit near it but don't block it. you could walk out and give it a try. I know on weekends ( this last weekend) I saw people out on the rocks on the south side fishing the water but from the new bridge you can't look down and see the old bridge and the east side where you were able to fish so maybe you can fish there. There is still a lot of construction equipment there and by the bridge as they dismantle the old bridge.

I was down there last week nosing around. Parked in the parking lot and you have no access to the old bridge to fish or across the street by the sound, which is what I was interested in. I use to fish over there. Fishing from the bridge was tricky, as the bottom was covered with rocks that if you werent careful with your tackle, you would get snagged. Now that they are saving a long portion of that for a walkway / fishing attraction. It would be nice it they cleaned up the bottom there for the fisherman. I could see that as a busy place, I understand will be finished taking down the old bridge by the end of the year.

Clean up the Bottom, wow! First structure holds fish. Sure you loose rigs but if you catch its sorta okay. You also have to consider that the west side has more on the bottom and then tide. You dont fish the West side on outgoing water. I dont think your suggestion is going to fly. Just find a suitable spot and have fun. Leave one for me.

Boaters should note the USCG notice to Mariners regarding the work site.

Stopped by there to check out the new bridge and see if I could wet the line from the old bridge. Still closed. This was late last week.
