RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

There is a market for it and the Realtors involved here fight for the opportunity to be on tv at no cost to them. The homes are often advertised as being on tv too.

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

I can see it used for advertising the property and the agent. I think most people know these are scripted programs but I find them better than what is on most of the other channels. I love the idea of a drinking game - maybe they could put one into the show to help with choosing a house. Anyway I hope they don't show the Outer Banks too frequently. Might encourage even more people to visit. I guess I'm a little shellfish. Tim, I'm glad you added how some shows let the people go in without the agent. My husband always has a "cow" when they do that. I guess the producers just want to keep the focus on the people and not the agent.

My nephew's wife is a TV producer. She has done a few of the international House Hunters. I asked her about the scripting. She says that they say what she tells them to say.

They need better producers. That said, it is an incredibly tired concept.

I agree, but it sells. If there was no market for this, it would go away.

Not just that it sells, but it is incredibly cheap to produce. No cost for talent, just a small crew to film for a couple days, some to edit, someone to do voiceover.

I'm just surprised they haven't squeezed in some product places... "honey, look at the beautiful GE select series stainless steel cook top! It accents the Lowe's installed granite countertops beautifully!"

That's Funny!! I bet it comes to that at some point. I have spoken with 2 Bargain Hunters crew/producers, the producers of the Tuna Outer Banks show and the producers for Dinner Drive-ins and Dives and it amazes me how many people they bring. Diners was special since they did 7 shows and each show had its own producer and assistants. There must have been 15 of them. The Bargain hunters and this last one must have had about 7 and they were here 4 days. It's funny how they see different homes but they wear the same clothes to make it look like the same day, it wasn't!

A bit off topic, but I'm going to rant anyway. I miss having the History channel showing actual shows about history. Swamp People, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, what the hell does that have to do with history?

Current most popular shows on the History channel. ::sigh::

The History Channel, as well as others, went the way of MTV and VH1. "Reality" shows killed the video star.
