Beach Hunters TV Show

Well, I mentioned some time ago that a house we have for sale was used to make one of those sort of real sort of fake TV shows where a couple picks a house to buy. Like all those shows the couple already bought the one they pick in the show and they are filmed looking at 2 other homes and the one they already own. Beach Hunters is the same but they are using million dollar homes not the ones under $350k. I found out the show was aired recently and we never knew about it. I am hoping some of the technical savvy folks here can find it online to watch somewhere. It is season 4 episode 4.

I saw the last half of this episode on TV last week. I didn't think the houses were that impressive given the budget. It's all about location I guess.

We saw it too. My hubby is also a Realtor and he said that they already owned the house they chose. I still like looking at the houses and figuring out where they are during the filming.

I know the house they bought, it was in our rental program and we had it listed for sale at one time. The producer I spoke with while they were filming said they were not sure what the program name was going to be called, but now I see it is Beach Hunters and she told me they were going high end rather than bargain hunters.

Yes, location is key. The lots cost 2 or 3 times what the houses cost that are on them in many cases.

That worked - THANKS. That was interesting to watch.

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

I watched that episode on Sunday evening - it was on at 930PM. The whole time as was watching it I was thinking that the guy that was buying the house looked familiar.

After a little investigation on the Dare County GIS after the show, I got his last name. Turns out that I was in a fantasy football league with the guy from 1997 until about 2003. I would see him once or twice per year over that period. His wife even babysat for us once so that I could go to the football draft. Our son was probably two at the time - he's in college now.

Small world. They are obviously doing well purchasing a $1M vacation home.

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

Gotta be the same episode i saw. The dude kept saying 'vegitative' as in 'the dunes are in a good vegetative state.' Seemed like the only thing he cared about.

They also didn't seem to understand that fact that furniture can be replaced. He said, "This house has 6 bedrooms, but the kitchen table only seats 8." THEN GET A NEW TABLE!

the one house had great views, but she was mad that the kitchen sink window had a view of the next house. I mean, who really cares what their view is like when they are washing dishes.

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

^^ Know what you mean. I never watch these types of shows, but my mom told me about one on the Outer Banks a few months ago. It was cool seeing the houses, but the buyers were so annoying and superficial, I couldn't take it. There should be a drinking game designed around every time someone on one of these shows says, "natural light."

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

Or how the unit looks Beachy

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

Or "Oh wow!".

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

Or "Open floor plan"

My husband and I both said at the same time, get a bigger table!!
As for the sink view, I felt for that budget in that area, that's what you get.
I'm guessing production prompts the "potential buyers" to say lots of silly stuff.

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

Another fake “reality” show?!? Shocker

I think you are spot on. You have a big camera pointed at you so you are expected to say something. There is a script of sorts. They tell you pretty much what to say when they start filming each scene, but I am sure there is some ad lib too. I was glad to see Realtor Mike did not say, "Go in and look around and I will met you back here" which always would make me laugh. No one does that. I do hear comments about single vs double sinks, vegetation (it's a biggie) and Open Floor Plan is another very common term.

Here is the house they bought. They are going to have sand migration problems they don't even know yet. They might have a great view of the beach but there is nothing to stop the blowing sand. Even in the video you could see it was a problem already.

Like when a 6-year-old chimes in with some observation about the house that a kid would never say. Theeth smiley

My nephew's wife is a TV producer. She has done a few of the international House Hunters. I asked her about the scripting. She says that they say what she tells them to say.

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

One of the guys on a car web site I'm on wen to the Pawn Stars shop in Las Vegas. They were filming that day, and he was asked if he wanted to be in the show. They handed him something already in the shop and told him what to say, pretending to bring it into the shop to pawn.

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

I figure most of what's on TV is fake but at least I get to enjoy the scenery!

We had an HGTV drinking game on the word "space." Started with one shot glass of beer each time the word was used. It was difficult to refill the shot glasses in time, not to mention the inebriation and silliness that resulted in a 30 minute show. Today, after 90 minutes in a doctor's office with HGTV on, I was needing a beer!

They need better producers. That said, it is an incredibly tired concept.

RE: Beach Hunters TV Show

When House Hunters first came on, it was interesting, but was pretty easy to see it's scripted. Didn't care, so I watched. Now with all these knock-offs, I'll put it on in the background, but I'm not seeking the show out. My TiVo will record most shows about NC, so I'll watch the Outer Banks shows.

A bit off topic, but I'm going to rant anyway. I miss having the History channel showing actual shows about history. Swamp People, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, what the hell does that have to do with history?

Current most popular shows on the History channel. ::sigh::

Our joke was always, "nice space, open concept, stainless steel appliances..."

I agree, but it sells. If there was no market for this, it would go away.
