Dinner on the beach?

Dinner on the beach?

Family of 10 in Hatteras June 16-23
My wife will have a birthday that week and we always look for something to do that is special for her...
This year we are thinking about surprising her with dinner on the beach, just over the dunes from our rental home.

Does anyone have any ideas for caterers or any information on someone who can help us do that?

Or, if you have awesome birthday ideas (not on the water, that's not going to work for her) let me know.

Thanks!!

This will give you a starting point. You will have a lot of choices unless you want chairs and tables also. Check out personal chefs also.

IMHO, logistically, that would require a LOT of manpower/manhours to hump everything over the dunes and setup. I hope you are on a beach that can be driven on during that time of year. Also, like with beach weddings, the wind is always a factor. I think either one of these restaurants can give you valuable impute to your hope of an unforgettable evening for your wife. Owen's https://owensrestaurant.com/ ,or Basnight's http://lonecedarcafe.com/catering. Good luck.

^^ good point about the driving on the beach, and the transport of facilities necessary to serve a party of 10. OP’s date looks like late June, and driving on the beach is prohibited in season in front of the villages.
I’d consider hiring one of the personal chef services to cook in your rental for your group. It offersthe privacy that no restaurant can (although there are some very nice restaurants to go to should you choose that route, and want to go out). A private chef can work with you on a menu, and you have the benefit of staying in and having a special dinner.

Check in with Nicole from Made with Love: Hatteras Island Chef Services. She has a page on Facebook.

probably would be easier if someone in your party could take a little folding table, with a picnic basket (containing a simple picnic style meal with 2 plates, 2 wine glasses and some flowers) and set up something simple ahead of you walking her over for a stroll on the beach, and then she is surprised. could just be a romantic dinner for the 2 of you.

We looked into this place a couple of years ago. Might be worth checking out.

Beach fire with Shrimp for the appetizer, Hotdogs for the entree and S'mores for dessert. I nice Riesling or Zinfandel pairs well with the dogs. For Beers a Wheat based would work nicely. I would recommend Yuengling Summer Wheat, or Blue Moon, both of which are easy to find on Hatteras.

If you’re already down on HI then maybe I’m not understanding what’s keeping you from getting a permit for a beach fire and having a modest “dinner for 10” with portable food?

I mean I get there’s a birthday and the desire for something special but a bonfire with simple foods and some preparation is pretty normal on Hatteras.

Are you trying to find a “chef” who caters in a 4WD vehicle with portable grill?
