Do you mind me asking what a huge house like this rents for? I guess you could get lost in it!

Great pictures! That is one of the most beautiful beach houses I've seen. Thanks for sharing.

Your pictures take me back to our stay in Corolla this past June. Only difference was our ten bedroom place was full to the rim. We had 19 of us this year. And next June in Avon we will have 23.

Thanks for posting pictures of the winged horses. My children will be thrilled to see that they were unharmed by Isabel.

So in the picture of the foursome, which one are you?

Sure glad your trip worked out so well, thanks for the affirmation that things look normal in some parts of the OBX. I am happy to see the dunes held up in Duck. I think it was really mean to put up photos of delicious food...when it is so close to dinner time for me!

Hi obxgrlinva.....this house rents for $2200/week off season....don't have catalog so not sure of the rent for "fall, spring or in".

We did get "lost" a couple of times the first couple of days we were here.

Thanks Glenna we think so too. We have been searching many years for the "perfect" house and I think we are close. The beauty of this house is that we have views to both the ocean and sound with no homes in between. smiley

Hey round, are you on the right or left in the photo? We don't really need the space but to get the views of both the ocean and sound without anything in between you gotta go large.

Bring some BBQ when you come.

I want to try to get photos of as many of the winged horses as possible, but not sure I will....the weather is just to great to get me off the beach.

I am on the right in the dark John Lennon t-shirt.

Get one Doc, they are awesome. I said I would never put down my SLR, but digital is great for this stuff. I still prefer my SLR for "serious" photography.

Our two guests are both gourmet level chefs and we ate great. No need to go out anywhere, since whqat we had at "home" was better than what we could get out. Bought our fish, shrimp and steak at Tommy's Market in Duck. A little pricey, but excellent quality.

It isn't as bad as it sounds.Out of 23 of us, only 7 are under the age of 18. We have 4 generations together for one week of catching up and enjoying our favorite place in the world. Our agreement is that everyone is on their own for breakfast and lunch, and dinner is a group effort. It really is alot of fun.

We are loving it Cos.....we could not ask for better weather. It is cooler than normal, but with no wind and a good sun it is perfect.

Unfortunately the two chefs have left :(

Since the chefs have left we have been slumming Cos......PB&J for lunch, Pigman's BBQ for dinner.

I do make a good breakfast complete with a tangy bloody mary....served about 8:00am every morning, so come on up.

...one on the left with the fancy timepiece from Woolworth's. And we still got some muskrat bbq left over from the spring shin-dig. Goes pretty good with piping plover pot pie and grilled snorkel tern. 'Course they're in short supply since Isabel hosed them.

But seriously....isn't a house of that size something like "grotesque over-kill"? Years ago my aunt use to call them "hurricane magnets".

The menu sounds, er, rather "interesting" round. What kind of sauce do you serve with the muskrat? You sure are a fancy looking gentlemen.

As for the house....I guess you could call it "overkill" especially for four people but to be in the very best location (scenic wise) on the OBX, this is what you have to rent. However, with that said, it is awesome to be able to live like the very well to do for two weeks.

Tommy's was right up the block from our house I ventured there for sauces and sides. I cooked everynight too except one. We had hit Costcos before coming (afraid stores would be empty) and had brought down burgers, dogs, steaks and pork chops.... Did have lunch from PIGMANS once, and went for one dinner at I think it was called Sunset Cove which was very good and beautiful place for a last sunset too. That house is beautiful... We too were spoiled with our house being so great we did not want to leave to go out for dinner or lunch either... I would have just liked to have been on the ocean or have sound views. We were on Duck Landing about 10 homes off the beach (still walking distance) and 1/2 block to all the shops which was very nice. I love that location not having to drive to run into Tommys or some nice little shops too.
