Kill Devil Manor

I had received some great research w/paper clippings form here compliments of among others judyk and roanokies concerning the kill devil manor in kdh. I shared this info with an acquaintance last night and she added or caused the confusion. She reminded me (actually two people did) that they had (and me as well) stayed in that motel in around 1986. Is that possible? Was some of the motel torn down leaving other parts? Was there another Kill Devil manor in KDH? Does anyone remember the name of the other motel that was either near or right next to The Kill Devil Manor? If I am remembering it right it was almost directly across from a all you can eat type restaurant on the Beach Road south of Awful Arthurs. Any help in clearing or correcting my memory would be sappereciated.

My name is Sylvia. As a teenager from 1966-1970, during the summers I worked at the Kill Devil Manor in Kill Devil Hills. The property owners at that time was Harry and Helen Cook...with their babies—two Pug dogs...great people to work for...I moved away after graduating in 1970 so I’m not sure whatever happened to the two wonderful people or the manor.

Regarding the kill devil mansion in kdh, I had received some excellent research with paper clippings from here, thanks in part to judyk and roanokies. I told a friend about this information last night, and she either added to or made the confusion. She recalled that they had been in that motel around 1986, and two other persons also remembered this. Can you do that? Was the motel partially torn down, leaving the other portions? A second Kill Devil mansion existed in KDH? Are there any people who can recall the name of the second motel that was close by or immediately next to The Kill Devil Manor? If I recall correctly.
