I was reading the previous post where I saw a few of you mentioned Anderson's Store & Cottages, so I did some research... didn't come up with much though... anyway here's all I found so far, but I'm gonna keep looking...

My parents started taking me to OBx in the early 50's and Andersons is one of the places we stayed. Our family pics are lost or gone from then so I have been trying to find pics of places we stayed,etc..

HOF - i just looked at the book "the outer banks in vintage post cards" on amazon.com -- when you search the book "anderson's cottages" comes up as being on page 90, but amazon doesn't let you see that page....grrrr.....somebody here has to own that book. maybe they can scan for you (to make sure its a pic, and not just dialog).....

Found this... I can see it says "Anderson's" on the side of the building... don't know if this is the place you all were speaking of though...

^^ yes, that is Anderson's in KH. Not the original that was lost in the Ash Wednesday Storm. I can't remember where that pic appears but it seems like Roanokeis has posted it here before perhaps? Judy & Hooked~ I found pg. 90 in The Outer Banks in Vintage Postcards but alas my scanner isn't hooked up & even if it was its doubtful i could post. Maybe somebody else? :smiley16:

The picture in Ginapie' post is the building I remember from 1960 on except it was brick. My family had a cottage about a third of the way between Anderson's and the corner where Winks and Dare Hardware where. I went with some family members after the Ash Wednesday storm . We had to show the deed and as I remember it part of the old bridge was washed out and they had built a wooden crossing. The pictures shown had to be the cottages. My memory says the corner of the store was washed out. There was no bypass and past the beach road was nothing but debris as far as the eye could see.
