It is the pink building at the 6 mile post. The white van will be out front across from the Pitsburg Paint store. Jim and Martha run it and they have the Tar Heal donuts. I go there every sunday morning since it is just a couple blocks form home. I personally love the glazed donuts. They open at 7am and I like to be thre about 7:30 to get the still warm donuts. YUMMY!!

Archdale at the bypass.

Tim, you're a doll. My daughter is getting married in S Nags Head on Sept 17, and she just told me that she MUST have tarheels the morning of the wedding...I was so afraid that they were no longer there! Thank you sooooo much!

My wife always has me get her one. Sometimes they do not have them in stock but will often make them if you wait. You can call the day before and they will take an order and have them ready for you the next day - you might want to do that. They close around 11am so call early.

Isn't that the donut shop that is next to the Cigar place? I remember people standing in line before they opened, my husband would be in that line too when he use to be able to eat them. About 5 years ago I think he ended eating like 5 donuts during the course of early morning to 12 noon and he got sick and a dizzy feeling. Turned out he had type 2 diabetes so no more donuts for him, so I quit eating them too. Our favorites were the coconut covered cake, tarheel and chocolate cake donuts...Ahh, the memories of little donuts dancing in my head! LOL

Hello! I realize I’m responding to a post from about 15 years ago(!), but this popped up in my search for “Outer Banks Bakery with Tarheel Donuts”, so I thought I’d give it a try!
Does this little bakery still exist (I hope!!), and if so, what’s the NAME of it??
I’ve been there several times in the past, but the name of this little gem escapes me.
Can anyone help?? Thank you in advance!! ??

Okay the very small place in KDH that sold Tarheels and Bear Claws that I remember closed over 20 years ago. If you didnt get there by 9 AM you got nothing. The building is still there on East Side of the Bypass. Thought a hearing aid place went in there which I dont think is there anymore.

I loved that donut shop, they closed around 2005 when the town made them close since there was an apartment above the fryer which is not allowed. The owners moved to Florida and goodbye went the best donuts around.

A Tar Heel donut looks like a foot with 3 toes as I recall. That place had a yeast donut that could compete with Krispy Creams and there is nothing here now as good.

Jim and Martha closed that shop around 2004 or 5 and moved to Florida. Those were the best donuts I have ever had and I miss them a lot. Here is the shop as it is today - I think it is still the Beltone hearing store.
