Dog-Friendly Restaurants?

I was reading a review of the Back Porch on Ocracoke, which named the Back Porch Lunch Box as being pet friendly and was wondering if there were any others that followed suit. We don't want to leave our fur balls alone in the beach house when we drive up to the northern beaches and Ocracoke for sight-seeing and shopping. My fellow bichon parents know how it rips your heart out to see their sad brown eyes when you walk out the door! P.S. I talking more of places with picnic tables and such outside, not regular eateries like Lone Cedar, Black Pelican, etc.

Outdoor dining is available in Manteo at Full Moon Cafe, Magnolia Grill, Ortega's Grill, Poor Richard's Sandwich Shop and Hungry Pelican. I see dogs with folks all the time. Food is very good at all these places. Magnolia Grill even has a community doggie water bowl outside.

You're kidding! That is so cool! We may have to visit some of these places and take our "babies" with us.

Wow, good to know that some restaurants allow pets. I'll be sure to avoid them.

Just to clear things up...they are allowed outside and not in. State law prohibits animals inside restaurants (except service ones). All the ones I listed have available tables inside or out. OUTSIDE you may have your pet with you. You can be safe from fur inside.

Well, the pets might just be cleaner than the people cooking your food so I wouldn't be so quick to judge a restaurant by whether they allow pets. Anyway......that is so cool that they allow pets. I never thought to bring mine. We take ours to the beach but we do leave them in their crates in the house when we go out to dinner. I hate leaving them but that's what happens when we are home too. They love their crates. They act like it is their safe place, lol.

I never met a dog I didn't like. If only I could say the same for humans!

John's on the beach road gives free "pup cups" to those in the know. pup cup = styrofoam cup of soft serve ice cream...and a doggie bone. our Welsh Terrier goes nuts when I mention the word "Johns". MD

The back porch is very pet friendly - the outside area which has picnic type tables. There is a sign in the bar that reads: Pets welcome - children must be on leashes.:roflmao:

:smiley53: Just hope all you dog owners bring plastic bags with your dogs when you're on the beach -- nothing worse than putting your towel down next to dog pooh. :smiley53:

Of course...all it takes is one bad owner to give all of us a bad reputation.
