The Associated Press is reporting that the 540-foot Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head was destroyed.

Just read the article about the pier. My heart is aching. Can't believe the comment from the "storm-chasing" idiot who said it was just like another rain storm for him. Bet he's not facing huge dollars in damages to his property or having to go through the hell of clean up. Hope I don't run in to Warren when I get down there this summer.

Local news reporters interviewed the pier keeper from Nags Head pier who confirmed extensive damage there. I think it was the Nags Head pier and not Jennette's pier that got destroyed. The keeper said the water came up under the restaurant and picked up the pierhouse - thus the refrigerator floating down the street. There's hope for Jennette's after all. Don't want to see Bob DeGabriel getting to put up a couple more of his million dollar mansions in Jennette's spot.

Yeah - I have pretty much had that confirmed. Makes me sick. I have been going to Jennette's for over 20 years.
