I have been staying in Whalehead for the last 13 years and I have not experienced really "bad" traffic, although at times it is a little congested in Duck. The Bypass in KDH, Kitty Hawk and Nags Head never seems really bad....the beach road thru those towns is slow, but never really bad IMHO. However, I am there in September/October so I don't know the high summer conditions. Plus I am from New Jersey, so it takes alot for me to get upset about traffic.

Where in NJ are you from? I grew up in *blush* Short Hills, and lived in Bernardsville, mendham, that area, as well as a few other before moving to SC.

Just curious! ;)

Why you blushing? Just because you grew up in the wealth belt? LOL Anyway, I have lived on the Jersey Shore in Monmouth County for most my life. Grew up in Little Silver and have resided in Red Bank for the last almost 30 years.

That's exactly why I'm blushing! Now you live in Springsteen Country. That makes you COOL!

(I won't even mention what beach we used to go to)

FWIW, I have left my wealthy roots far behind. I am a stay-at-home mom to 5 dc living in 1000 sq.ft. on a poverty level income. And loving it! *lol*

We always stay in Duck in July and the traffic can be a hassel. It is especially bad during check in/out times on Sat. & Sun. and at dinnertime.

I'm guessing that you went to Spring Lake or Bay Head.Or maybe Gunnison Beach at Sandy Hook, ;). We see Bruce and his family around alot. He now lives in Colts Neck. Bon Jovi lives across the river in Middletown. My neighbor teaches both their kids at Rumson Country Day School.

Yes, in high school, my friends and I used to drive to Bay Head, but we had to sneak on the beach! *lol*
Does The Boss still look cool when he is grocery shopping?

I think is always looks cool Martha. Great thing about the Bruce thing around here is that he goes everywhere and anywhere (shopping, restaurants, parks) and both he and everyone is cool about it....no jerks gawking or asking for autographs.....he is just "one of the guys". When he released The Rising, he went to Jack's Music Shop in Red Bank and did a signing thing. Did you see him last summer on The Today Show/Good Morning America show from Asbury Park?

I understand your displeasure with us tourists to the OBX as I live on the shore in New Jersey and we can't wait for the "tourons" (tourists+morons) to leave.

On the other hand there are non-touron visitors that vacation at the Jersey Shore that respect the area and the people who live there....these visitors I don't have much of an issue about other than making it a little difficult to get a table at a restaurant and making the traffic a little more heavy.

You and I live in a tourist areas and have to accept the fact that people come to visit. That is the price/trade-off we pay for having the priviledge for you to be able to live on OBX year-around and me on the Jersey Shore year-round.

Unfortunately, no. When the TV is on around here, it's mostly PBS kids or Disney. I can never be sure when they won't go to breaking news on those morning shows and show something I wish to protect my young children from.
