Jeez, I am glad for our guests, but dang, that's woefully little time to turn, say, an oceanfront cottage that has been sanded up. How many folks are gonna go apeschit when they find their pool is filled w sand....

You have a point, OB. There have been lesser storms that have filled up ocean front home pools with sand. A lot of debris to clean at those homes too I'm guessing that a child could get into.....

Only the ones that rented oceanfront pool homes. That can be dealt with on a micro level by each owner or property manager. I’m guessing 98% of the rentals saw no significant damage. Everyone involved needs the prime time revenue right now.

Yes, 100% correct, but in RWS we have sooo many in peril (but still rentable - like Mirlo) OF spots (heck, we're all gonna be OF eventually) and if you watched poor Buxton the wash went a few rows in.

Many friends work in support of the rental space, and several of those in pool cleaning....one challenge is that we are seeing so many first HI or OBX timers and the whole "your pool is an aquarium and/or your pool pump is toast...and/or the driveway is full of sand" is kinda new to them...

I'm pretty sure that everyone on this board would "get it" and understand but, those that are first timers, previously, Duck/Northern Beaches/NJ/ NE because they want a change from the traffic/pomp and circumstance often aren't sometimes so understanding.

EDIT: was just sent this from a couple we know up Rt 12 a bit.....love it!

Well, there ARE people who would carp and whine that they are paying good money for such amenities as oceanfront swimming pools, and who chose to do so of their own free will and accord in a geographical setting that is isolated and subject to unpredictable natural forces ....

Perhaps they should recall, or be reminded , that the same forces which sanded up that pool ALSO sanded up the road that allows them to arrive at their chosen destination as they planned. Their gratitude that the recovery crews WERE able to remove that sand and OPEN the road, allowing them to arrive according to schedule, should extend to the property management work force now mobilizing to remove the sand from that pool. Sand which may even now be still arriving due to the continuing heavy surf.

The moral is be happy with, and ENJOY what you DO have, because things could always be worse... i suggest they take a few minutes read and contemplate an old, short story by Ambrose Bierce entitled "Haita the Shepherd" before they start whining,
