Down here on the Pamilco the wind is picking up and some darkness is moving in. Im back on the fence with this one. It ain't even off Jacksonville Florida yet and it's got plenty of room to strengthen. I just heard it's supposed to get back up to 115mph by 2pm tomorrow and it's still moving NNW. That wind field is huge. Standing out here on the deck...I have a funny feeling about this one. It still hasn't made that relatively sharp turn it's supposed to make here shortly....Im probably wrong but we are getting sustained winds down here already and it's a long way away

The wind field size is extraordinary, BF. It's going to take maybe 24 hours to pass by. That's a long time to get wind beaten and spans two high tides.

I've received ferry system alerts that they're suspending service to Ocracoke due to the weather.

In other news from the Ocracoke Observer, the grocery store is still open.

"Notes: The Ocracoke Variety Store closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday and will close at 7 p.m. Wednesday unless deteriorating weather prompts an earlier close time."

I remember Izzy in 2003. It came at us as a cat 5 but dropped to a low cat 2 when it hit us. It did so much damage because it was HUGE, much like this one. I am glad it's not heading at us more than it is.

My camera I set up before we left this am to see if the water will come thru beach access as our pool is on left of that. We dug a path for it to maybe follow if it does to avoid sand in pool.

But that is a little thing. My hope is that 1) no one is hurt and that 2) no one has significant damage to their property.

Our second home is now OBX after over 40 years of vacationing here. We love it.
