So we usually stay in an airbnb about and hour outside of Manteo the day before arriving on Saturday (August 2). I noticed this week that my unit appeared to sitting empty this week. This house has a facebook page (not PM's), so I figured I try to work a side deal for at the very least an early check-in or maybe even arrive Friday. No response through facebook and I did locate an owner email address from the deed document, but no response there either. Called the PM and they said check-in time was still 4-6 on Saturday even though unit was empty. Also said the rate for Friday would be at the same rate as the regular week. Never heard directly from the owner so I booked Friday anyway and cancelled my airbnb. A little bittersweet, but glad we do food shopping on Friday now and avoid the Saturday madness.

The owner is probably wary of a off the books airBnB rental. There are no protections for damage etc. unless the rental is completed through the web page for them.

That was a confusing post by me. It is my normal weekly rental that is empty this week (sat. - sat.) I usually stay in an airbnb the Friday before my week about one hour out.(inner banks.Edenton). I was trying to track down the my weekly rental owner directly but to no avail. I ended up calling the PM for my weekly rental and they said I could rent Friday at the regular rate. So I was unable to get a "side deal". I pulled the trigger on Friday. Great day to do the grocery shopping!!
