Good idea, EZ. That brought to mind an Amish market; one might be wildly successful there (they are amazing) but upon further searching, the last time any Amish lived in the area was 1944. Scratch that idea.
The pandemic put an end to a lot of buffets. And a lot of them, including my two favorites, never came back. On the state line on 168 was the best ever— Southland, still there but no longer a buffet. With the senior discount, the lunch buffet was priced at eight dollars. It was like grandmom‘s on Thanksgiving day, some of the best home country cooking anywhere ever. My best dog park buddy was the chef at the Outer Banks hospital. I told him about it and after he ate there, he told me it was the best fried chicken he had ever eaten in his life.
The other one was the Circle Restaurant in Elizabeth City. Similar price and similar quality of food. I miss those two buffets every time I head north to Virginia or Elizabeth City.
