How is the weather the first week of November? We have been in September before but never as late as November.

Impossible to know. And that's not a smartarse answer, but... that time of year can be really pleasant or 6 days of 30+ mph NE winds and chilly.

Yep it’s a spin of the wheel.
We’ve done late November a few times.
One of those weeks it went from low 80’s and gorgeous the first half of the week to low 40’s and a gale force wind the second half.
But isn’t that part of what we love about the Banks?

I am usually still in shorts the 1st week of November. After that it can be nice or chilly.

Just a reminder, hurricane season ends November 30 (not that one will happen).

What is the weather like in Nags Head in November?

25 web pages
In Nags Head, North Carolina, during November, the weather is typically cool and moderately rainy with breezy conditions. Here's a detailed breakdown based on historical data:

Temperature: Average daytime highs range from around 62°F (16°C) early in the month to about 59°F (15°C) by the end, with nighttime lows dropping to around 50–54°F (10–12°C). The weather feels moderately chilly, especially with the coastal breeze.
Precipitation: November sees moderate to high rainfall, with an average of 1.85–4.5 inches (47–114 mm) of rain over approximately 11 days. There's about a 28% chance of rain on any given day, typically moderate in intensity. Snow is not expected.
Cloud Cover and Sunshine: The sky is partly cloudy to overcast about 41–45% of the time, with an average of 13.6 hours of daylight and about 5.5 hours of sunshine per day.
Wind: Expect breezy conditions with average wind speeds around 17.3 mph (27.8 kph), though not as strong as in March.
Humidity: Relative humidity is relatively low for the year at around 74%, making it less muggy than summer months.
Other Notes: November marks the end of hurricane season, with lower risk compared to August and September. The ocean water temperature averages around 58°F (14°C), too chilly for swimming without a wetsuit. The weather is ideal for activities like beach bonfires (with proper permits) but less suitable for sunbathing or water sports.
Recommendation: Dress in layers, such as sweaters and jeans, and bring a rain jacket for potential showers. November is not the driest or warmest time to visit Nags Head, with May or June offering more favorable conditions.

nreid: All of the responses are correct on here. You just never know about November. We were down here last October and the first week of November and the weather was great. I was swimming in the Hatteras Inlet on Halloween. November is my favorite time down here and it's my birthday week/month which gives it a plus for me as the weather is much colder in my hometown then and I always wanted to have a warm birthday temp.
