Good to hear the new owners will keep the name and the decor.

A+ reputation. Access from both the beach Road and the bypass, large parking lot, building is in excellent condition. My guess is 5,000,000+

Heard it is the owners of the Chicken coop in Corolla. Great family.

Our absolute favorite restaurant in the OBX. It’s a family tradition that the whole group goes at least once when they vacation here. My husband and I were there 3 weeks ago and it definitely had a different vibe, They were seating a lot of people upstairs rather than filling up downstairs. Figured it was a staffing issue, but who knows.
We like The Chicken Coop, too! Hope the new owners don’t change the quality. The two restaurants are VERY different in concept. Fingers crossed.

Wow, my wife and I have been going there since 1991. We must have had 50 plus dinners at Owens and I can honestly say all of our dinners were very good to great. Not only the food but also the service.

Wow.

I hope they don’t change it much it is not broken and doesn’t need much “fixing”.

Our family has had a dinner there for a meal every other year for 3 generations

But that doesn’t mean that Bobby is retiring. He is still the mayor of Manteo.

The new owner is GOLASA HOLDINGS, LLC, which is Israel Golasa who owns all the Wing's, Outer Banks Sports Club, & many many other properties on the Outer Banks.

Hearing that Owens is now closed?

What I don’t understand is that when the sale was announced in 10/23, they said they weren’t going to change the name and traditions. But they clearly did change the name.

They changed the name to Captains Table or something like that. I have never been there since the change (before covid sometime). I have read good reviews.

They changed the name to the Captains Table.

Tried to reach them last Thanksgiving, but the phone only rang and rang and nobody answered, so made other plans.

Website is no longer registered but other things show they are still open

The Captain's Table Facebook page is also gone. Other posts on Facebook seem to confirm it is now closed. Didn't get a chance to go there but was planning on it. Based on their social media, maybe they tried to take on too much. They had breakfast a few days a week including a buffet, lunch, and dinner with a buffet that changed themes every night. They also had the upstairs bar area they tried to make into a casual night spot. It's a shame.

Promising not to change “things” before the sale is a very old tactic to keep existing staff from finding new jobs. I have lived through that lie.

I am thinking the owner of Wings had something to do with the ownership of the place. Let me go look.

I. Golasa bought the place in 2023 for $7.8 million. wow and now it's closed.

Well that took the national average of 27 months for a new restaurant to fold. I knew it was going to be in for an uphill fight when they changed the name.
That name had massive value and everyone knew where and what Owen's was. We had 3 generations of or family that dined at Owens. Last summer we had friends that wanted to try it and the google search didn't link the old to the new and when it was described as "The old Owens" she instantly knew it and she was a typical vacationer who came to the Outer Banks for the week

Very sad that this restaurant is gone. We took our kids there (toddlers at the time and very family friendly atmosphere I recall) when we would rent a cottage in South Nags Head. We also ate breakfast there a few times when killing time while our dog was getting chemo treatments at the Manteo vet in 2021 and 2022.

I just remember back in the day...mid 90's for us with our kiddos... when they had very old pics on the wall of people...maybe old saltys that were quite old and we enjoyed looking at them.

It was truly a must be visit when we stayed more north then.

I have met Golasa. I don’t think he spends a dollar without a plan. USA Flag

So sad to see another historical icon of the Banks gone. I was a young girl on my first visit to the Banks when my parents took us to Owens. They let me get the prime rib. I’ll never forget that.
Owens was also one of the restaurants my hubby and I ate at on our honeymoon in 1979. The last time we went there to celebrate our anniversary it was still Owens and we had a wonderful meal.
The most recent reviews on TripAdvisor of the new place aren’t good.
I think we will keep our memories.
This year we will celebrate our anniversary elsewhere.

I would give it a chance the owners are really great people and I am sure have some kinks to work out as with anything that changes hands.

It's all over local facebook pages. Plus, if you go to their website, it goes to a dead end/error message. Same for their former facebook page. Also, I called several times on Sunday and it goes to a full voice mail box or similar.

Wow, I tried going here several times but they were always closed or never answered the phone. The one time I actually stopped by (December), there was a company Christmas party being hosted there. There were no signs or anything which was bizarre (someone else pulled in and did the same thing). I'm not at all surprised this place closed.
