Finally able to do a 2-week in-a-row vacation in OBX.

Headed down on Friday 7/23 for an overnight stay in Pocomoke City. Nice easy ride and had dinner at Don’s Seafood (not bad, by why so dark inside?).

Left Sat morning at 8am and hit the usual beach traffic. Smooth sailing and hit the bridge around noon to the usual backup. Stopped at Longboards for lunch but they were closed. So went to Hurricane Mo’s. Got the 2pm message that the house was ready early- thank you Joe Lamb! Unpacked and got a little swim in.

Dinner was at Jack Brown’s with some music. The weather has been amazing. You can actually sit outside without sweating and nice breeze from the south.

Sunday 7/25 was the wife’s birthday (not 50 yet ). Perfect beach day. Water was 77 and air was 85. Ocean was calm and refreshing.

Did our first ducking of a Jeep on Saturday then we walk out of Outer Banks Brewing and have 2 ducks on our vehicle.

Monday 7/26- Hung out at the pool the majority of the day. Some of the group went to the beach and said the water temp was down to around 65. Got to love the winds and water temp changes.

Trying to find dinner on Monday’s in OBX is a challenge. The staffing shortages have caused many to close on Monday’s and Tuesday’s and/or lunch time. It’s a shame since they probably all need to recover from the last 1 1/2 years. Any rate, found this new restaurant in Nags Head called Mahi Mahi’s Island Grill. Called ahead around 5:30 and they said currently no wait. Got there just after 6pm and an hour wait. No worries, grabbed a drink at the bar and sat outside. Table was ready in 30 mins.

Food was awesome and our waitress was running around so much but happy and smiling. She was awesome! That’s the other problem we don’t think about in these labor shortages, someone else has to pick up the slack and work their tail off. I watched the bartender who was running non-stop. Kudos to all of them. I highly recommend Mahi Mahi’s Island Grill. Hopefully they can survive as a new restaurant because most don’t.

Good to see you're enjoying your 2 weeks. Thanks for the restaurant updates. We'll be down in a little over 2 weeks and have the feeling we'll be eating in more than out due to staff shortages.

Eating out is a challenge if you don't have a reservation made 2 days ago. We went to I Got Your Crab last night and the parking lot was full and so was it. We even went earlier than I ever go to eat - 5:30 and it was packed. Can't wait for the off season!

Last night was our theme night. We cut the outside activities short due to the neighbors kids being in bed at 8pm but not a big deal. We understand what it’s like to have little ones.
