Thanksgiving

So yesterday I reserved a cottage in Frisco for next June for the grandkids and myself. I was enjoying a few brews on the porch later on and one thing led to another and I reserved another in Frisco for me and the mutts for Thanksgiving week. I think I’m done for now. November is one of three months I have not been on Hatteras. Something to look forward too. Anyone else going that week?

Our experience has varied from year to year; however, it is generally a good time to be there. You will find others enjoying Thanksgiving week - so it is not as solitary as a week in December. In non-covid years, most restaurants and shops were open.

We have found that early morning coffee on the sun deck facing the ocean is possible - especially with sweatshirts and long pants. Lunch is generally a better time to enjoy eating outdoors, strolling the beach, etc. with T-shirts and shorts on most days.

As owners, we long ago stopped offering our home for rent at Thanksgiving so we could enjoy it ourselves.

My family has spent Thanksgiving on Hatteras Island many times. Weather is the big variable. Plan for everything from beautiful weather in the 70s to rainy, windy weather in the 50s. The fishing can be awesome if the weather cooperates.

Yes. Plan for the worst weather wise and you'll be fine. Every month has it's attractions on the island.
