Christmas is in three weeks! Where did the year go? I got this beautiful Santa driftwood ornament from "shell hunter" last summer; it looks so cool on my Christmas tree. Would love to see some of our members' beachy Christmas treasures. smiley

We're spending New Year's week at OBX this year. Can't wait to celebrate NYE in our favorite place!

Beachy, slightly tacky and one of what I call my rainy day crafting trivial pursuits. Sandy the Shellman makes an appearance every Christmas by popular demand. Probably not everyone's cup of tea but he's become a member of the family!

Another shellhunter creation.

I wish I took pictures of the lighthouses she (shellhunter) did for me, but I gave those to a cousin for Christmas who is into lighthouses.

I don't have my tree with OBX ornaments up yet. But I do have my beach wreath and garland up. Please ignore the 24" of snow out the door... I know I am. Wish it was beach sand.

I have always had a bin of shells, I don't remember not having one. They are from the beaches in Florida, OBX, Mexico and California. I am always making something. Two years ago I made this. Everything on the tree has been collected by me over the last 25 plus years. I purchased the sea star on top.

Cool stuff!

We can't do a tree this year because our new dog has a philosophy... if it fits in the mouth, it goes in the mouth. So I don't have a pic of our Whalehead Club ornament, but Whalehead Club was making ornaments, a different one each year, from the original copper shingles. We picked ours up ~2011 or so and it was a whale's tail. Pretty cool, but it's so dark it doesn't show well on the tree. Sad smiley

To Walkingonsunshine: I love your seashell tree. IF I could come up with the ambition, I'd like to try to make one!! What kind of glue did you use to keep the shells together?

Thank you! It's not everyone's taste but I love it. You should try it!

The tree is styrofoam, and the shells were attached with low temperature glue sticks in a glue gun. The star is glued to a skewer, with a shell on the back so you can't see the skewer, the skewer was shoved into the styrofoam before I finished gluing all the shells on the tree. If you don't have little pieces of glass, make sure you have some tiny shells, or pearls or something to fill in the tiny gaps. Good luck!

Wow, these decoration ideas are too good, I was really looking for some good ideas about decoration, in fact, I love the Sandy the Shellman, and its a unique way to decorate house, In fact, I saw some good decoration stuff on Christmas promo codes at Reecoupons, now thinking to buy shell from there and try to make Shellman, will show you pics.

I’ve been buying these beautiful little ornaments from Nancyware in Manteo for my Christmas tree every year since at least 2009.
This past October I went to get this year’s ornament but, alas, Nancy is enjoying a well earned retirement and it’s the end of my collecting these. I will miss her beautiful pottery!

Love this thread! So many ideas....so little time. Thank you, to those of you who’ve purchased a ‘Shell Hunter ornament’...I’m happy you’re enjoying them and I appreciate the compliments!

My all time favorite Santa, one that lil’ Shell says I’m not allowed to sell, is a large piece that’s mounted on a post/rod and stands about 32” tall.
