Another sunrise

Below is a pic of this morning’s sunrise at the jetty. It was 66 degrees and I was barefoot on the beach.

Right now it’s 46 degrees, raining sideways, blowing 34 mph with 49 mph gusts, and I’m wearing fuzzy socks.

WOW! That is a great picture Jessica! So happy you're enjoying island life! I'm in fuzzy socks too. But we got 6 inches of snow yesterday and its currently 14 degrees, heading for a low of 6. I'm jealous LOL

Thanks! Like I told everyone back home in Indiana, I absolutely hate winter, but I’m going to be cold, I’d rather be cold on Hatteras than anywhere else. The gusts outside are crazy right now! I have the heater cranking now, so at least it’ll be warm in here if the power goes out.

Beautiful picture Jessica! So glad your finally at your happy place. It's 21 degrees and was snowing sideways earlier today. I am soooo ready for Spring already and it's only November. Please keep posting beach pics for all of us stuck up North.

Thanks for sharing the pic. I saw this same sunrise yesterday morning, without the jetty, from Hatteras village and it looked exactly like that......red sky in the morning -sailor take warning.

Thanks! I’m safe at home. Manager told me around 1 today that I could go ahead and leave before the roads started getting bad. A couple hours later, she texted and said work is closed tomorrow. I was very glad to hear that.

The wind has gotten progressively worse throughout the day. It’s a bit unnerving right now, hearing these huge gusts outside, and a couple noises here and there of things being tossed in the wind. My manager told me to go shoot pics of the beach after I left today. I shot a little video, but the wind was so strong, my hair was whipping my face and I was getting sandblasted, so I gave up. I could hardly see out there.

Sucks that it’s still so early and knowing it’s going to get even worse, then wondering how things are going to look tomorrow, and knowing that it’s still going to be bad tomorrow. BUT I chose this life, and I have zero regrets. It’s just weird having it pitch black outside and hearing all of this outside. Just hoping we don’t lose power, because I’m going to need that coffee first thing in the morning. smiley

I’ll go out and shoot some pics tomorrow and post if I get anything good.

Ugh I just heard something in my roof. I don’t think I’m going to do much sleeping tonight. If you don't have one yet, get a generator. Even a small one will make a big difference. Good luck. The first storm is usually the worst to get through. You'll be fine. Post pictures afterwards!
