Today in Buxton

I was off work today, so a friend picked me up and drove us out to the Point for kicks. Wow! That was wind was fierce! He hates wind, but I love it, so I jumped out to shoot some pics and video of the few fishermen out there. I had to use both hands to pull the door back open on the truck because the wind was holding shut. I loved it!

Early afternoon, it quit raining and it was beautiful out, but still windy, so I was glad. Huge difference from the soggy morning!

I had to laugh when I read this line. We have to do this often here in Colorado. Today’s gusts were around 35mph, snow is a coming :(

Glad to see you back on the boards. Hope island life is treating you well!

Thanks! Yes, I love living here! I get to see the ocean and the lighthouse everyday, I have great coworkers and great friends on the island. Best decision I’ve ever made!

I'm happy for you and glad you made the move at such a young age. I was 50 when I was willing to give OBX a try. Most folks only dream about making a move like ours.

We left Duck in the wind and rain on Sunday. We had rain the entire way home - yuck! So glad the rain cleared by mid day. We had wonderful 10 days. My husband fished every day and surf fishing was great, even in Duck. We did not make it South of the bridge but did drive over just to see Oregon Inlet. You are SO lucky to live there!

Always a gift to see your pictures and posts of Buxton! I like the first one the best. Old ocean all stirred up...

Good to hear you're still pleased with your decision to move and that the folks you're working with are nice.

My first winter at KDH, I recall how house rich and cash strapped we were. We’d split a beer just to get the free appetizers in bars. Buying cheese at Food Lion seemed like a luxury. It gets better...

Ah, I don’t require much at all. I have a good thing going here. Funny, I bought cheese at Food Lion yesterday. Lol

I eat at restaurants more than I should, though, but I feel like I just want to try everything out here! At Pop’s now, getting ready to order food. They’re just better at cooking seafood than I am. I haven’t tried since I moved here, though.

Things are just starting to settle down after the whole car fiasco. The past two months have been a complete blur from all that stress. Got to sleep in today, though, and things are finally starting to feel normal again. I’m just happy that I get to see the ocean every day. Nothing else really matters to me. I really love it here!

So glad to hear that is behind you. Enjoy. You're living a life a lot of people would love to. Regardless of what people think, money can not buy happiness. It might give you a short term high, but it will all come back to being where you want to be, doing what you want to be. Those are the true rich people.

Jessica, thanks for posting back here - and I'm with you, as you know, and everyone else who celebrates your move. You did it! As you said, you don't require much. As time goes on you'll settle in more and more and will find our way to dinners at home in that "brand new oven"! Wink smiley

John, you said it beautifully "Regardless of what people think, money can not buy happiness. It might give you a short term high, but it will all come back to being where you want to be, doing what you want to be. Those are the true rich people."
